Question about Dryers

1 Answer

About once every 7-10 days, an excessive amount of water leaks from beneath our dryer, flooding our laundry room. Is there an area in the dryer that water from wet clothing is collecting before it leaks out?

Their is a catch pan that has 2 float switches in it. One of them is supposed to pump the water into the water tray atop the machine.
The other is supposed to kill power if the pump motor fails. I would be willing to bet a hose came off the pump. When the tank gets full the water gets expelled to the floor. Here is a manual for condenser dryers:

My maytag epic z is leaking from underneath

Remove the front bottom panel. Should be three 1/4" screws on bottom lip of panel. See if you can tell where leak originated. Chances are good you just need to pop the cap off the drain pump and clean it out. Here is a vid that explains the procedure.

What could be a cause of water leaks from Bosch Nexxt 500 gas dryer?

Since there is no water lines connected to a Bosch Nexxt WTMC 6500 gas dryer, the water leak has to be from excess water from the clothes you are trying to dry. Which is probably more the problem.

Does your washer leave an excessive amount of water in the clothes after the spin cycle?

My Kenmore 800 series washer leaks from under the front left during the spin cycle. I looked behind it and checked the connections but all seems fine in that area. What could be causing this?

Same problem! Flooded the laundry room and about 1/4 of the basement. Happens randomly, not every load. Checked all hoses, they are snug and don't appear to be leaking at all. During the wash cycle it you can hear it spraying water inside the washer and the floor starts flooding. I bought the washer Sept. 19, 2009 and have had this problem for about 5 weeks now. Sears refuses to do anything about it, because it's no longer under warranty.

could be as simple as a blown thermal fuse.  most places will allow credit for a service call toward purchase of a new machine if repairs are too costly

My electrician installed the 220 outlet for my dryer on the floor in my laundry room. Is this a hazard if I ever have a water leak from my washing machine? Should I have him reinstall it in the wall?

I for one would have hadthem install it into the wall. However, if he was a licensed electrician then he would, BY LAW, have to follow building and electrical codes for your area. Contact another electrician and ask them how they would have done it.

Normally you shut off the wall valve when you are thru with your washing. If there is a leak in the front area (important: first take the plug off the wall) open up the top of the machine and check whether the three rubber tubes are in place at the soap dispenser - one of them may have come off. Refit or replace if rubber tube is damaged; would be good to check all the tubes. Another thing would be to check that your soap dispenser is not clogged. :)
