Ptt on setting

Hi,

Unfortunately, you have not provided me a model number and an explanation of what your exact problem is. Therefore, the best that I can do is give you a definition of PTT:

Push to talk (PTT). Push to talk (PTT) functions as a two-way radio. The PTT option is available only if enabled by the service provider.

I have no personal interest or association with any product that I may suggest.

One radio will receive messages but will not send a message

It is possible you have your PL code set differently between the two radios.

Instructions: Hold the PTT in while turning the radio on, listen for the code to be announced, use the PTT if needed to change the setting, then press the monitor button to lock in the setting. It will then announce whether it is 12.5 or 25k channel spacing. Use the PTT to change the setting if needed. Then press the monitor again to lock it in.

If you need more assistance give us a call. (google our name)

Best regards.

VX210 GIVES 3 TONES WHEN PTT PRESSED. WHAT

Check to ensure you don't have the "WIRES" setting enabled. A common issue with Yaesu radios. You can turn it off with a combination of a "F" key press and the button that has a little symbol that looks like an atom with electrons orbiting it.

When I turn on the radio the indicator light on the top of the unit just flashes. I cannot set the frequency or code. When I push the monitor button I hear static but otherwise the radio is dead.

The flashing light can be an indication there is activity on the frequency the radio is set to. Pressing the monitor button should give you the white noise (static) sound, so this function is working correctly. This also tells us your speaker is working fine, as well as your volume. The typical reason you cannot go into programming mode (when you hold the PTT in while turning on the radio and hear the female voice announce your frequency) is a bad or moved internal PTT switch. This typically happens over time as a user presses ever harder on the PTT to communicate. However, this does not explain why you are not receiving. This could simply be a result of an incorrect PL code in conjunction with the bad PTT. If you have a frame removal tool, you can extract the component board and physically look at the internal PTT. You can then hold in the very small button and program the radio to the frequency/PL you desire. If you are needing the radio repaired, you can get this style unit repaired for around $69 flat rate

PTT Button cuts me off

Among the things which might be wrong with your radio, you could have an intermittent PTT button or a weak/bad battery. The PTT button has an internal button attached to the component board. Over time the button wears out from continued use, or it gets bent further way from the external portion of the button and simply doesn't make good contact. Also, a weak battery can give the same symptoms, as it takes more energy to transmit than to receive. Try a known good battery in the radio and see if the same problem persists. Either way, a visit to your local dealer could probably give you a free diagnosis.
