Question about NetGear WGR614 Wireless Router

If your router is still accessible you can perform a firmware update. Please follow the instructions below .
Note : please do this on a computer that is directly connected to your router thru an ethernet cable.
1.click start , run , and type on the run box, cmd.
2. You will see a black screen or the dos prompt, enter on the blinking cursor the word ipconfig. Then press enter.
3.Look for the ip address and default gateway. If your default gateway and ip address starts with 192.168.x.x. that means your router is still giving proper address to your computer.
if the ip address is 169.xx, you may need to reset your router for 30 seconds and then check again if the ip address is the same by typing ipconfig. 169.xx ip address is an invalid ip, you wont be able to access the web interface if your getting an invalid ip address.
4.close the dos prompt. Open your browser and enter http://routerlogin.com
5. it will prompt you for a username and password.
username is admin
password is password
6.click on the router upgrade and proceed on updating your unit to the latest software.
you can visit http://www.netgear.com to look for the latest firmware available for your router. Please make sure to select the exact model number. updating the router to a wrong version will brick it.
