Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

Purchased TV in August 2005 replaced mother board Oct.2009 TV went down next this time in Jan. 2010 audio was good, but no picture. About a month later we turned tv on and it worked fine,then after about an hour we had fractured colors of green, lavender, yellows etc.. we thought maybe we needed to replace the lamp. so we got a new lamp and the visual stayed the same. We are not connected to a cable service and use the TV solely for watching DVD and VHS movies. We have used the s type connector and that did not change anything, tried the 3 wire (2 audios and 1 video) no change. Funky colors and shadows. This is one of several problems we are having, but figured we would go one at a time. Can't change channels to view dvd'd have changed batteries in remote and cannot access manuels. so Cannot access HDM1,2,3,or 4 channels

The funky colors you are talking about is usually caused by a faulty DMD board so are the controls. The DMD chip is embedded into the board and hence cannot be replaced but before you should look for faulty caps on the board and replace them if necessary which begs the question? Do you have prior experience in electronics?

I bought a new Tucson 2006. The battery died in Oct 2009 and I replaced it, died again in May 2010, I replaced it, died again in Oct 2010 and I replaced it. Jan 10, 2010 it has obviously died again. ...

If the battery was made in china, Which walmart likes to buy from, I would go to another store and get one that will work for more than a couple of months. PS Don't get one from autozone either.

I think you chose a Westinghouse Lemon, go this site and read all of the negative reviews of this model;

http://reviews.cnet.com/flat-panel-tvs/westinghouse-sk-32h240s/4852-6482_7-32429419-2.html?tag=userReviews;page

Here's just one of the reviews;"best chunk of aluminum i ever had the fortune to buy"by stevecox25 on June 11, 2009-->
"Horrible customer service on a worse television" by westinghousecrap on March 20, 2009 Pros: Good picture once it is properly adjusted.
Cons: Low quality audio, had the TV for 10.5 months and the picture went out, sent the TV at MY expense to TX, and I've been waiting for 2 months, and customer service can only say that there is a "delay". And they don't send a new TV, it's a rebuild.
Summary: Please don't waste your money on this TV, spend a little more on a different brand and save yourself the headaches I've had. I'll never purchase a Westinghouse product again. Customer service has been no help, and their answers are vague at best. Learn from my nightmare, NCAA march madness on a old 19" TV because my Westinghouse quit working 2 months ago and they still haven't replaced it.

I have a Mitsubishi WD-52525 television, purchased in Jan 2004, and have had various issues with the set since purchased. When the set was first purchased, it took three different deliveries to get a set...

Buy a new set - not a Mitsubishi DLP. I've repaired 3 sets at the board level.
Many, many bad capacitors on four boards, 12 hours to repair.
If a tech replaces one board, he is only fixing one of 4 bad boards and the set will soon fail again.

LG "NO PICTURE" , IF FIX WILL RECUR? ,DID LG FIX DESIGN FLAW 42PC3D

I had same problem - no picture, but sound worked - LG 42PC3d - was two months past warranty, but LG agreed to fix it as a warranty call. Service guy was out within a week to replace the Z SUS(?) board. Works fine now. This must be a typical problem, as LG did fix it, even though the warranty had expired. Good luck.
