Replacing mcculloch 210 trimmer pull cord  The pull cord has become detached from its housing - I have got as far as taking the trimmer apart but I need to know the fitting instructions back onto the spool e.g, how the end of the cord fixes back on to the spool and winding order from that point. The spool is notched and has a hole in the flange so I assume it is threaded through these in some way - can anyone help please?

Its quite simple to do and you will kick yourself when i tell you because its so simple to do ,firstly look to see the angle that the cord comes through the housing at,see it ---- now most engines go clockwise .now wind the spring loaded cord holder anticlockwise and get a good tension on it then push string through and put one wind around the cord holder then push end through the small hole where the previous knot was and then tie two knots into the end and push it into the little area for it ,release the spring loaded holder and it will wind in the pull cord that you should have at the same length as the old one with handle already fitted .Nothing complicated just a slight application of logic and the best of british with it .

Are you referring specifically to this model? Under full tension the notch of the spool/pulley lines up with where the cord enters the strimmer motor housing not the hole. Also you referred to a knot - are you saying that the cord has to be tied off immediately on being threaded through the hole? I cannot even reach a hole without removing the pulley from the spline which means I can't put it under tension first. Incidentally - I put the pully under tension as you suggested (it's clockwise tension) and the pulley and spring jumped out of its housing. I now have a rogue spring I can't coil back up into its housing.

I hope you can give me a little more specifics

How do I replace a pull cord for pm 605 mcculloch chainsaw?

First remove the pull starter housing.
The next part is tricky. You'll have to release and unwind the spring that rewinds the pull starter cord. Remember how you do this because after replacing the cord, you'll have to rewind the cord and spring before inserting it back in the housing.
re-attach the pull cord housing to the chain saw.
Hope this helps.

The pull cord will not pull to start the trimmer

i had a problem like this on an old mower, the cord had become tangled inside the unit, it limited the pull of the cable so it would now spin the engine enough to start. it is not too difficult to to pop the top off the unit and check for tangles or knots

Bosch electric hedge trimmer PHS 46G - stops when cord bends, have purchased a new power cord. Have removed all the screws in the body case, and the front handle and sheild, but does not want to break...

The proceedings are as follows: 1. on the PHS 46 G release all Phillips screws. 2. On the underside of the trimmer, remove the metal cover.(4 screws). 3. Slide the scissors form as far as possible to the front , then we see two more small Phillips screws . Loosen these screws too. Now, the entire blade detaches from the ex-center gear. 4. The housing can well be apart!

Lawn mower starter rope is pulled all the way out & won't retract

Definitely worth getting repaired. You might be able to install a new spring in the recoil but it takes patience, finesse and strong fingers. Eric

Starter pull cord

take a light and look into the clutch hole
you will either need a torx or star type nut driver or a allen or hex head nut driver to fit in the hole and turn the screw ccw while holding the flywheel.
Make note where all comes off and all goes back in reverse when fixed.also after you remove the clutch housing you will be stareing at the clutch shoes next and it will have markings on which way to turn it for removal.
