I need to disconnect my battery in my 2005 GMC SIerra.....I do not have the code for my radio and I don't want to the radio when I am done working on my truck any ideas.

I'm not sure why you need to disconnect the battery but if it's to replace it you can connect another 12 volt battery to your truck with jumper cables or jumper wires. Connect the negative post to an engine ground and the positive to the positive jumper post. It's under a red plastic cover near the driver's side front of the engine. Just be aware that the positive battery cable is live and you'll have to be careful that it doesn't come into contact with a ground. That radio should have no code in it unless it's programmed by the owner. The default code is 4 zeros. If you bought the truck new and you didn't program a code into it you should be OK. Check the owner's manual. If you didn't buy the truck new and the previous owner programed a code into it your only chance is to get it from that owner.

Hi i have a 1999 gmc crew cab dually with power locks and windows the driver door is the only place that will work the other doors. could the lock overide be bad?

Yes if the lock switch is bad then you will loose control of the other windows. The switch is easy to replace and is available at NAPA parts online or your local NAPA parts house. This is a common problem with drivers door controls on gm vehicles.

My 99 gmc sierra 4wd stereo is locked and the dealer is gonna charge me to fix it. How can I get the code?

sorry there is no quick fix, if there was a general code it would be too simple to steal any radio, check the owners manual or somewhere in the glove box

I have a 99 gmc and i want to take the factory radio out but it has theft lock and i'm not sure how to get it out, got any ideas?

theft lock is an electric code that keeps the radio from working if the power is disconnected you must reprogram your code to work again if theft lock is not programed by the owner it needs no code to work if you are going to replace it with an after market radio it is mute any way

Can I get the radio code before I unhook it?

Not that I know of. There is another way, if you have the owners manual that's in the glove box, look under radio section, it will explain on how to put in a new code, then write it down so you'll have it.

1998 GMC Radio Code Radio display shows LOC Code unknown and previous owner cannot be contacted.

Call the dealer with the vin number to the vehicle some require the serial number off of the radio itself. They can get you the radio code for the truck. It will not cost you anything.

Keeps asking for code will not come on

You must have bought it used. If it is asking for a code, that means the previous owner set a security code on the radio. Every time it is unhooked from power, then reconected it will ask for a code. If you can not get the code from the previous owner, you may get lucky, and they will give the the master overide code. It is hard to get then to do this over the phone, because it helps theives. Hope this helps.

How do you reset the radio for a 2002 GMC 1500?

You will need to contact your local GM dealer with the VIN # proof of ownership & possibly the radio SIN # they will be able to retrieve the code for you if it is the original radio for your truck.
I know it's kind of late now but, If you need to replace your battery & don't have the code I recomend attaching another battery to the battery cables via booster calbes while you install the new battery.

I hope this helps
