Yes Very helpful, but cost of repair may exceed the replacement of the sony with a quality mid range camera.

Hi,
This is lens mechanism problem that does not send initialize signal to system control chip because of defective sensor for some reason.
System control chip will try three times to extend and fold lens mechanism then give up with "turn power off and on again" message.
Lens assembly need to be replaced by local camera repair shop.
Let me know if you have additional question.
Thanks.

How to take pictures if ur camera says access and the turns off

Go into the menu and reset to default settings. Also try a new memory card. If that fails the camera is faulty.
I hope I have been of help but please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
I appreciate your vote if you appreciate my reply.

The words "Lens Error" appears on the viewing screen

The lens does not fully extend, that's why it tries again. The lens probably does not extend or retract because of debris or a misaligned gear box. The lens can in about 50% of the cases be repaired without having to replace it. Try to return to manufacturer first. If you're out of warranty, there are third party place that fix them such as camera lens repairs. If you want to do it yourself, there are also free camera repair guide websites that show you how to replace the lens, the replacement part is usually available on ebay.

The word Access appears on the LCD screen and nothing else.

The camera is trying to access the memory card, and it can't. Make sure you are using the correct type of memory card, and make sure it isn't locked (via the lock switch). If possible, find another memory card that is the right type, and see if it works. I hope this helps!

Not able to shoot photos

OK, I have this camera and it started doing this to me about a week ago.  I assumed it had reached the end of it's life after many, many excellent photos.  As a last resort when the lens popped out after first switch on (when it's doing the clicking business) I grabbed the lens and wiggled it gently back and forth (as if zooming a conventional SLR).  It appears to have been fixed, remarkably!  I switched off and switched it back on and all seems OK.  (I'm not holding my breath and will probably keep looking for a new one but for the moment it's sorted out.)

Lens is stuck

I had this problem and whacking the front of the camera against the palm of my hand a few times freed it up so it worked again.

This may be a dumb idea... but did you accidentally turn the screen off? Don't ask how I know this...
