If you cant get on to whoever installed it you have no option but to contact microsoft and buy a license or do you have a windows XP pro sticker on your PC case? If so you can simply change the key with simple software by Microsoft.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Welcome to FixYa!

If you're seeing notifications that the copy of Windows that is installed on your PC might not be genuine, or that you might be a victim of counterfeit software, it's likely that your copy of Windows was not properly activated or is otherwise not genuine. To fix this, click the notification and follow the steps to either repair Windows or-if you have inadvertently obtained counterfeit software-buy genuine Windows.

If you are using Windows XP, download and install the Windows Genuine Advantage Notification Application. It will scan your operating system and will remove the annoying message if it's a legitimate copy of windows.

Im a victim of software counterfeiting

If you are a victim of software counterfeiting then you unfortunately are going to be the one that had to pay for it.
Microsofts policy is a joke on this subject, since when is it ok to charge the victim money to correct it?
But unfortunately you need to buy the Windows Genuine Advantage Kit here:
http://www.microsoft.com/genuine
Then once you have purchased it and received your genuine key, you have to change it with this tool: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=45668
Once you have done this, it should work again!
Hope this helps! Sorry about the having to pay for it thing, Microsoft needs to review their policy on this subject as it contravenes at least Australia's Fair Trading Act when it comes to purchased products... I'm not sure about other countries but when you buy something in australia, the service provider must provide the service or refund the entire cost of the service.
Anyway! Hope you can get your copy genuine again!

So you have installed windoes and input your COA sticker from Microsoft? If this is true then you can call them to get it validated. The number I found for you is (888) 352-7140. Resolved.
