HDMI carries both video and audio.
Do you get video and audio on TV. Just to be sure.
Now are the external speakers powered ?
are you connecting the Speakers to Audio Out of the TV ?
By the way, I cannot see any RCA port that is output port on your NEC plasma. NEC 50XM4 User Manual Specifications The audio input is for audio from dvd for example.

Nec t.v sound turned up to max still not loud

There are tow possibilites for this fault. Either its speaker of audio output section is faulty. Check the speakers first. If they are found OK, check and replace the audio output IC.

I have a NEC TV that I cannot find a remote control to work. I have Comcast & the codes they have wouldn't work for their remote so they said to contac NEC

I reccomend contacting NEC and obtaining a replacement remote from them. Universal remotes are not as compatible as people believe they are. Good luck.

How to connect audio from TV to Hi-Fi for stereo speakers

Most of the TVs are having an analog audio or digital audio output.
However, it is not possible to connect direct speakers to it.
It is required to use an amplifier/receiver to connect the speakers..
You can also connect PC speakers (like 2.1 and 5.1) using a compatible cable as it has built in amplifier.

This monitor has onboard amplifiers and external speaker terminals which can be connected to any set of speakers. The amp puts out about 7W per channel. There are attachable speakers made for this monitor (model PX-50XM1U-S1) which you may find as well.

Hope this helps,

Tv problem

Since the NEC is not a TV but a monitor, it does not have a tuner nor speakers that it why it has no RF input. So if you want to watch TV on it you need a cable box with an HDMI and an audio out, and a pair of amplifed speakers. You can use the cable box's universal remote to turn your monitor on and off.

To get TV video, get an HDMI-to-component video (red/blue/green) cable then to get audio connect the cable box's red/white RCA audio out with an inexpensive set/pair of amplified PC speakers. For this you need a 3.5mm-to-RCA adapter to hook these up properly.

Because the audio is coming from independently powered speakers, it will be nice to have a set that goes on standby when there is no audio signal from the cable box. This would eliminate the need for you to stand up and power off the speakers when you have shut down your TV (monitor) and cable box. Or even better, get one that has a remote so that you can raise or lower the volume or power off as needed.

Hope that helps.
