Hi i have this satellite r630-155 and i think it got hit by a virus. I dont see any recovery cd with the box. How will i reformat it? Thanks!

Depending on what kind of problems the virus is causing, you have a few different options.

If the virus has only wreaked havoc on the operating system, you can reinstall it. Toshiba laptops do not come with a recovery CD. Instead, Toshiba provides a way for you to restore the computer's OS to its original factory settings through the boot menu. The details on how to do this for your make and model can be found here: http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm

If the virus has somehow managed to prevent you from getting as far as the boot menu, or if the virus has destroyed the Toshiba factory settings backup, then you will need to contact Toshiba and have them replace the operating system. If you are under warranty, this will be of no cost to you.

All step to format pc

insert the operating system CD, restart the computer and enter BIOS, change boot method to CD or DVD drive first, save changes, restart and then let it boot to the OS CD, select the option to install OS then you can delete partitions or just reformat existing partitions before reinstalling the OS. Be sure to save important files before you start with the process. hope it helps

I have a Toshiba laptop that is approximately 1 1/2 years old. Well anyways, I turns on but it will not boot up. Any ideas?

Make sure there is no disc in the dvd drive or usb device plugged in.
Try booting into safe mode (F8 while booting) and try a system restore
It may be that its just your MBR (boot file) that is damaged, if you google fix mbr, you may be able to get it working again. (may need a windows disc)
You may also have an option of system recovery (factory restore) from the F8 menu or other boot menu depending on the make of the laptop

Windows wont boot up when I turn on my Toshiba

You need an antivirus program to be installed after installing your operating system. Do it in safe mode. If problem persists let me know.

The 'safely remove hardware' keeps removing my cd/dvd drive.

OK - hold on.
Before reinstalling the OS here is a quick somehting you can try:
Next time the message shows up. Remove the CD/DVD from the laptop. Give it some time without it and see what it does. After awhile, slide the CD/DVD back in. This may fix it.

Reboot into Safe Mode. While rebooting keep tapping on F8 to go to Safe Mode. Once there select "Last known good configuration" and press Enter.

Reformat/Reinstall Refresh on hdd

You should provide either CD/DVD rom to boot your sytem in bootable disc.
And you should provide windows XP/2000 bootable disk.

You will need:

CD/DVd Rom
Bootable windowsxp/2000 to reinstall your system.

Note; reformatting or reinstalling your system all files will be remove. you should back up important files before doing.

Can't start laptop

Try booting (f8) again but instead of safe mode try 'Last known good configuration' Your Boot.ini is probably corrupt or your HDD is faulty and has bad sectors. If this is a no go, then you will need your windows cd to either repair your operating system; or a complete re install would be a better solution. As long as you can enter then bios (either DEL or F2 on startup) and enable your cd/dvd drive as the first boot device. Insert your cd and press enter to boot from cd and either press 'R' for repair or 'Enter' for complete install.
