Cant open some of my downloaded file. need 2007 version

Hi, MS Word files have .doc extension (Word 97-2003 Format). Since launch of MS Office 2007, the files have the extension .docx. These files can be opened with earlier versions of MS Word (97, 2002, 2003 etc) by installing the compatibility pack, which is available at Microsoft Official Site. It is not at all necessary to Buy/ Install Office 2007 for opening such files. Visit the above link, download the compatibility pack/ converter and enjoy!
Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.
Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya! CreativeTECH

I am a student and because my college use windows 2007 and i am 2003 i cant open my files which are done at college

Open them using Google Docs.
You can also download Openoffice from Openoffice.org (free). Both of these should allow you to open and edit the Office 2007 files.

Yes, you need Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint File Formats in order to be able to open the Word 2007 file into Word 2003. You can download the pack from Microsoft website: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?familyid=941b3470-3ae9-4aee-8f43-c6bb74cd1466&displaylang=en

I have an expired trial version of office 2007, and i now use open office instead of word but when i save the files and email people cant read the new document

If you save the files in an Open Office format compatible with Office 2007, people with Office 2003 or older won't be able to read them. Save your documents in an Office 2003 format and they should be able to read them...unless they have Office 98, in which case they should get into the 21st century and update to 2003!

Im using MS 2003... i just both this new pc for my house... my problem now we are using in the office MS 2007... all the my files now i cant open here in my house... i want to download MS 2007 to upgrade...

Office 07 default to 2 new extensions instead of the old .doc extension. 07 uses .docx or .docm (m is for documents containing macros).

If the document is just a standard one, you can go into file save as in 07 and save as.. 2000/03 compatible. 07 then saves the document with a .doc extension (this loses some of the nicer formatting 07 introduces but still looks ok). Then you can open the document at home.

If you cant rename the file as it is locked or something, then go here >

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word/HA100444731033.aspx

And download the compatibility pack. This lets you open these .docx/m documents with 2000/03 office.

Cant open word 2007 file??

I've been working using words never lost until I start puting different programs crashes the registry. first download data recovery { variety of product to choose its free} from www.download.com to recover your lost file then ccleaner to clean registry of wrong entry. then try to save file to word close reboot your system open word again check for the file if that saves. if not reinstall ms word 07.
