There is no problem other than the ownere manual no explaining that level 2 is shown as P - 20, level 4 as P - 40. I don't know why, the sales rep at Wal-Mart doesn't know why, but that is how it works.

How do I set up the power level on a Hamilton Beach microwave model number is p100n30als3b

I believe all you need to do is first press the 'Power Level' button, then select a number on the keypad between 1 and 100 (where 100 is full power, 50 is half power, etc), then Press 'Time Cook' and enter the number of minutes and seconds as usual. I'd suggest testing on a cup of water so you don't risk overheating anything. And never run a microwave completely empty.

Good luck.

I have a Hamilton Beach 0.9 Cubic Feet 900-Watts Digital Microwave Oven and I can not find out how to change the power setting for cooking.

Assuming its the same as my Hamilton Beach, you first enter the cooking time, but don't press start yet, instead press power, then a number button 1 - 9 for the power level 1 for 10%, 2 for 20% etc. THEN press start as normal

Defrosting buttons and how to use

a defrost on the mic.
this button is a selector of power really, it cyles the heat on and off keeping the actual cooking energy to minimun, just enough to knock down ice crytals
but make no mistake it is working the same just a lower power setting,
you could do the same thing by selecting power level 2-3 for longer times

I have Emerson Microwave #mw8999sv which has the Express Cook option- cooking 1 - 6 minutes. How do I cook for 1 minute 30 seconds, etc.? Thank you.

The owner's manual is here. On page 10 we find:

COOKING IN ONE STAGE
1. Press the POWER button; the Microwave and High
Cook indicators will light and “PL 10” will light in the
display.
2. Press the POWER button different times to set the
desired power; the display will show the percentage
you chose. If selecting power level 70%-10%, the
Low Cook indicator will light instead of the High
Cook indicator.
3. Press number keys to set the desired cooking time.
OPERATION(CONTINUED)
4. Press the START/+30SEC. button to start cooking;
the Microwave and one of the Cook indicators will
blink and the display will countdown the remaining
cooking time in minutes and seconds. It will beep
five times when cooking is completed.

Power level 1 = 10%, 2 = 20%, 9 = 90%, etc.

So 1000/1450 ~ .69, so use power level 7.

If the display is dim and another problem is denoted on the dim display, the problem may be the power supply which may be in common with both items. The power may have surged to a high level before going out which could have damaged the power supply. The only way to know is to probe the power supply with a voltmeter. If the board doesn't show the power levels, usually +5V or +/- 12 V DC, read the values on the electrolytic capacitors on the board. Usually 16 V caps are used on 12 or 5 volt supplies, 32 V caps on 24 V supplies, etc. Be very careful or leave this to a profesional

Power level again

It is probably a 700 watt model. Most ovens have 10 power levels, ranging from 10% to 100%. Normally you press POWER LEVEL, then press 1 for 10%, 2 for 20%, etc., then press START or COOK to cook. We could not find exact information on this model.

Power

You can download some models' owner's manuals here: http://www.samsung.com/support/productsupport/download/index.aspx But the attached diagram shows how power levels are categorized or rated. When you want to cook at a power level other than high, you normally hit POWER then a number from 1-0. On some models you press POWER repeatedly until it shows the power level you want.

It looks like you would enter the cooking time then press POWER 1 to 10 times. Once = 100%, twice = 90%, thrice = 80%, and so on, and "PL#" will appear in the display where "#" is the selected power level. On some models, twice = 80% and thrice = 60%, etc. and "80%", or "60%", etc., will appear in the display. Then press START. Did that do it?
