If you have tried to reboot the ipod and it still stays hung up on one screen, you may need to take it in to have it serviced. Ipods have an operating system much like a computer and can become corrupt. Any certified repair technician should be able to diagnose what is causing this issue.
i plug in my 80gb ipod and a thing pops up and says itunes has detected an ipod that appears to be corrupted. You may need to restore this ipod before it can be used with itunes. you may also try to disconnecting and reconecting the ipod. and so i restore it and it still comes back up
