Some one needs to take a millivolt reading on the thermopile. There are different types. But I believe on your type of fryer, the thermopile should put out at least 300 mV. Your gas valve is probably designed to work from 250mV to 750mV. You need a meter to get to the bottom.

In your case, I expect a new thermopile is able to make a bad gas valve look good. A new thermopile mV output is most always higher than an old one.

Imperial ifs40 fryer suiting up.

If you don't know that you are doing you should buy them. You need one for each burner, 3 or 4 for most models. Yes they can be drilled out going only one way, using lettered drill bits that are hard to find. The regulator on the back normally has to be adjusted also. If either is wrong, the flame will be to big or to small to heat correctly. At least buy one orifice and check the size hole, they are not expensive $5 -$10 if you do a little searching for a good price.

The Part Numbers are:
Orifice - NAT. Gas 1625-36
Orifice - L.P. Gas 1625-51

You MUST use Lettered drill bits for size, Like A-Z If it was drilled with any normal size bits 1/16 type bits it will NOT be correct! There should be a number stamped on the orifice, unless it was drilled out. Most people never mark the door that the gas type was changed, causes all types of problems for the service men.
Can you give more details to your problems? I couldn't find the hole sizes right off, but have seen it listed.

Having problems with my fryolar pilet goes on but doesnt stay on it keeps going out what can I do to fix this problem it really isnt that old if you can please help me I would apprecated it

Sounds like your thermostat could be bad... It's not holding temperature right, which is what the thermostat does for you... It could also be the thermocouple, which tells the fryer to stay on itself....
If you need parts or additional help, please call Paul or Ray at Restaurant Equipment Outlet, 888-542-5959, Cincinnati, Ohio. We can order parts and have them there in 1-2 days.... Thanks, Susan

We purchased new fryers that are Imperial IFS40 and the salesman was going to check them out and demonstrate the fryers by putting water in them and turning them all the way up. It got so that the water...

Fryers use 2 types of stainless steel. Get a magnet and see if it sticks to the inside of the tank. If so...that is a lower grade of stainless. Use some steel wool to clean the rust spots and cover with vegetable oil. The tanks should be ok if you just bought them.

Make sure the pilot has a shield around it. Also check for drafts in the area.
