You should be able to find the information you need here. There are questions and answers, installation instructions, and a link for the "Add on". Windows Vista includes a driver which will work with the i860, but to get all the printing options you would need to download and install the Add on.

I need vista support software

hi selim2004,

You need to download the Windows Vista compatible driver for your X1185 at
http://downloads.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/downloads.cgi?lxkprod=Lexmark+X1185

Be sure to select the correct Windows Vista driver (there is one for Vista (x64) and one for Vista (which is the 32-bit version and the one you are most likely running on your PC)

Hope you find this information helpful in getting your printer to function correctly with your PC
Kind regards and thanks for using the FixYa service

I860 not recognizing letter size

I would , personally delete the printer and re-install it...

Seems drastic, but would be really quick.

Not guaranteed to work...

I860 won't print properly

Buying a new printhead is a mighty good suggestion, it seems you have pretty well used up the maximum service life of your printhead, if i'm not mistaken. Try to reinstall your printer along with its software. Go to settings>control panel > remove hardware> then, reboot. After, rebooting, re-install your printer software and drivers.
