Question about Audio & Video Receivers

1 Answer

This is an Orion Model No. TV1934A. It's a TV/VCR combo unit and the picture is fine, but I have no audio. I removed the back and speaker appears hooked up and I tried hooking a stereo speaker up to check it and still no audio. Any suggestions?

No audio or sound coming from speakers ,I tried all speakers oulets an nada zero

Hi William,

  1. Make sure that the muting is not on.
  2. Please press "speakers" button under the power on button to ensure that the speakers settings are not turn off.
  3. You have to select the right input and make sure that the input selected are turned on and working such as DVD, VCR, TV, etc. to isolate them from fault. Used another cable as much as possible.
  4. If still no sound, the fault is inside the unit and most likely faulty sound output IC. May I know if the unit seems working fine except from the audio problem. Also, please let me know if you are handy in electronics, have a multimeter and necessary tools for troubleshooting?

Kind Regards,

the unit is ok. User manual on page 42 says that the digital sources can not be output trough multisource output.
Try to use VCR-1 VCR-2 audio output jacks instead.

I have a Denon AVR 790 for about 8 months now. Hooked up a combo DVD VCR player using the red/yello/white cables. It worked fine for about 6 months. Now I cannot get the DVD or VCR to play. I get sound,...

Hi,
If dvd combo player is only video source connected with Denon AVR 790 then unplug yellow video wire from Denon and plug it directly in TV input, now video signal will go directly to tv and sound will come from Denon AVR 790 speakers during dvd playback.
This is simple bypass that wont effect surround sound of dvd playback.
Let me know if you have additional question.
Thanks.

No surround sound from my PS3 through the Onkyo 5100. Video OK

Unfortunately only the higher end Onkyo Reciever pass audio over HDMI for sound. 605,705,805,905 exc. Your reciever will carry Video over HDMI but you will need a digital optical cable for sound.

thanks.

How do I hook up a fisher stereo to my tv so I can here the sound from my tv on my stereo speakers?

You have to have audio outputs on either your TV or VCR/DVD to input into your stereo. Look for the red and white RCA connectors. Most TV's have RCA inputs for audio and video but not always outputs. VCR/DVD players all have audio out so if you have one of these units connect a RCA cable to a input of your Fisher amp. I hope this helps

Getting Surround to work

The easiest way is to hook up your DVD/VCR combo directly to the back of your Sharp LCD TV, then run a component audio output from the TV to the audio input in the back of the receiver. Make sure you hook up your front, center and rear speakers correctly to the receiver, then go through with the speaker calibration steps - per manual, then it should work with no problem. Good luck!

1 front speaker and 1 surround speaker won't work on cable selection

theres probably a problem with the right channel cable or plug that connects the tv to the reciever, or the tv is set to mono audio.
