So practically the pc starts but you don't have any image. Try using another monitor and another video card - one of them is dead.

Yea right, that's the easy answer, I found a little spring switch on the bottom of the unit when I opened it, it dropped off from somewhere, but where?

Everything was working fine, then one day I switch...

Try to check your CPU unit it maybe have a power when you turn it on. Or just check their power suppy at the back when it works. If you check that all and it works normal just check inside your computer and try to see the Power LED (Light Emiting Diode) of the motherboard if have a light. Because if it is have a light your motherboard is good and if it is no light in the Power LED of the motherboard that was damage. But if your motherboard does not have installed Power LED try to check the CPU Fan it maybe works properly it because the CPU Fan was conncected in the motherboard if did not works the motherboard is also damage and need to replace. But if the CPU Fan was working properly, try to hold the CPU Heatsink if it is very hot the damage is your micro processor.

Fans work green light shows on motherboard but cpu wont power up

Any HDD light on / if not could be failed HDD OR faulty IDE / Sata cable.

Did you get posting beep if not remove / replace ram / reboot.

If you did then either mobo / CPU may be faulty.

Hi. my CPU (system) does not start. When i press the power button, the light turns on for a second then nothing happens.

Does the power supply fan spin when you switch it on ??

Do you hear a"posting" beep??

Does the CPU fan start to spin??

If no to all of these probably dud mobo.

Ensure that you got the cpu fan connected to the correct place, the board has 2 one for the cpu fan andt the other for a system controlled case fan.

If that dont work check to see you got the power supply connected to the board propperly, there is a seperate 4 pin connector using 2 yellow and 2 black wires ensure it is correct.

Check your power supply

unplug the power supply and bridge the green wire with the black one next to it to see if it comes on. OR JUST CHANGE THE POWER SUPPLY TO SEE IF IT WORKS.

YOUR PROBLEM IS A POWER PROBLEM EIGHTER FROM A BAD CONNECTION OR A WRONG HOOK UP AND IF NOT THAT A BAD POWER SUPPLY

A7V8X NOTHING HAPPENING,

When a power supply goes out the way yours did, it's going to fry the MB 99% of the time. So you're going to need a new MB. It's possible that you CPU is ok, but that could also go too. I would replace the MB first, then the CPU if that doesn't work.

My laptop powers on but won't boot, fans start and nothing happens?

I just had same problem with 2 laptops. Power light came on and fan ran a few secs but nothing else. I replaced motherboard and CPU in one. The other just had to reseat CPU and it works like a charm. I thought it was AC adapter or LCD but it just had to be reseated. I would try that before I bought anything.
