More than likely, the graphics card is damaged. What i would do, is go to your local computer store, Radioshack, best buy etc.

My g3 laptop has a blinking mac face and internet globe and question mark what do i do

Hi, Somehow it has been set to boot from a net server of some type.
Tyrn the Mac off then turn it back on while holding the ALT key down.
After a moment or two you shold see a new start-up screen wich will show the globe that you see, but it will also show the internal HD as well.
Wait until you get the pointer back, click on the HD and press return on the keyboard or the forward arrow on the screen.
The computer should then start up from the internal HD.
Once it is up and running , go to System Preferences (under the Apple menu) and select "Startup Disk".
Click on the hard-drive icon and then close the window. That should set it correctly.
Do another (normal) restart and make sure it works.Post back and let us know.

When i turn the laptop on all i get is a blank screen with the mouse arrow nothing else.

When you turn it on, does it initially show a "splash" screen (a picture) ?
Does it initially show any information, such as the amount of RAM installed,
or any "press <blah> to enter SETUP" message?
If not, then the motherboard has a problem.

If it does display the above, then it will try to load Windows from your disk-drive.
If the disk-drive is not connected, or it has "died", then Windows cannot be loaded,
and all you'll see is a blinking white "underscore".

If Windows does start to load, and you see the mouse-arrow pointer, then Windows is loading, at least partially.

Take your computer to a qualified technician at a computer-store, for thorough trouble-shooting & repair.

Display is gone, only pointer arrow shows

Try tapping the F8 key just after you power your machine up to see if you can boot to safe mode.

Blank screen when computer is turned on

When you get the Dell splash screen press the F2 key to get into setup. Use the arrow keys to go down to Drive Configuration and press enter. Go down to Primary Master Drive and press enter. Is the Hard Drive listed there? If not, that is your problem. Press Escape then use arrows to go down to Memory Information and press Enter. Is all of your Memory listed? If not, that could be the problem. Press "esc" to get out of setup. If the Computer does not freeze while in setup I would suspect the Hard Drive is bad. Is the Pointer responding to Mouse movement or does it lock up? In your situation I would first try to Boot from the Windows CD. Write back and I can explain how to do this. If that does not work I would begin to test Hardware. Do you hear any Beeps when the unit is turned on? If you can, E-mail back with more Info.
