Question about Faberware FCP280 Coffee Maker

1 Answer

Hi, My coffee pot just stopped working. When I plug it in, it doesn't do anything. I used to make coffee pots at General Electric and know not to get it wet. I don't have this one too long. Any suggestions? Thank You. Bev

Did you leave the house while it was pluged in? If so you need a fuse. Easy job, take the base off and you will see the broken part. Go into eBay and go to Farberware coffee parts, You will get all the parts you need and all the answers. Ron

I just purchased, what seems to be in very new condition, a 55 cup Farberware electric pot. It did not come with directions. I would think a 1lb can of coffee in the basket? There must be a fill line...

Farberware manuals do not seem to be available online. Try contacting Farberware Customer Service at the following site:

For coffee urns try the e-mail address for Electric appliances. Send your model number with your request for a manual.

Hi, You have a pot that was made in China. to fix the problem you have you have to replace the base. You can try to get one at Goodmens.com or Repair Shop.com. The China pot is very very inferior to the USA pots. I suggest buying a USA pot on eBay. The China pot is like owning a boat. Good luck . Ron

My 25cup Farberware urn quit perking coffee can it be reasonbly repaired?

I have the same urn and had the same problem.

There are 3 common causes of lost perk that can be dealt with at home, and cause about 1/2 of the failures with these urns. They are very common when the pots are used rarely or carelessly cleaned after use, and when coffee is ground too fine for perc (drip grind is too fine for perc). As long as the pot is still heating, check these three things:
1) Clean the _inside_ of the hollow stem )that holds the basket and moves the water from the bottom of the pot to the top), to remove all grounds. You should be able to see clearly through it.
2) At the bottom of this stem there is a very small cup that has little holes in it and fits into the little well at the bottom of the pot. Make sure these are completely clear.
3) Scour out the little well so all residue/ grounds are removed and the little cup fits perfectly into the well.

It is the perfect fit of the two that allows the perc-ing cycle to occur.

If the pot is not heating, or these cleaning measures do not work, a local electric repair shop can probably do the repair for about 1/2 the cost of a new urn.

Coffee starts to brew and then stops

You could turn it off, unplug it ( is it plugged into a GFI outlet?) empty it of water and clean every part that you can get off it thoroughly. then dry it carefully and then plugging it back in and just try running water through it with a filter in place. This is just a simple reset. (Even coffee pots are computerized now!)If this does not change anything,
I would clean this pot, put it back in the box and take it back to the store where I purchased it, along with the receipt or credit card receipt. I would not take "no" for an answer. You should not be having these problems after ten uses. Let me know how it works out.

Thank You Your rating is always appreciated.
