Question about GIMP GNU Image Manipulation Program

1 Answer

How do I completely uninstall Gimp 2.6.6 from my laptop? Just uninstalling it from the control panel doesn't seem to remove all elements. It ays I can delete them manually but it doesn't tell me what elements they are. Now Gimp has taken over and I can't print anything particularly PDF files. CDEARTH help online isn't very helpful either.

Update Your Computer Drivers Automatically with Driver Manager

HowtoUninstallDriverManager If you have decided you no longer need Driver Manager on your system, you can uninstall it in one of two ways.
Both of these options completely remove Driver Manager from your system.
1.Anuninstallationlinkcalled"Uninstall"wasplacedinyourStartmenu,intheProgramsfolder,under"DriverManager". Clicking this link will start the uninstallation process.
2.Alternatively,youcanuseWindows'built-inuninstallutility; Go to your Control Panel from the Start Menu. In Windows XP, you will see an icon named "Add/Remove Programs". In Vista and Windows 7, the same functionality is behind an icon called "Programs and Features".
Double-click on this icon. Here, you will see a list of every application installed on your system.
Find the entry for Driver Manager and click on it once to select it. An "Uninstall" button will appear.
Pressing this will begin the Driver Manager uninstallation procedure.

Why when I unistall gimp it's don't completely unistall/

When you uninstall, the GIMP's directory in USER>Gimp (version#) is not erased in case you reinstall and want all your brushes and such back.
To completely uninstall GIMP, you have to delete that folder after you uninstall the software. (To get to that folder, you can go to C Drive> Users> USER> gimp (version #). )

Need help with missing libgimpui-2.0-0.dll file

The problem is you didn't completely uninstall Gimp before you installed it again so the Gimp install file got confused when it found some residual files or registry keys from a previous install and thus it skipped installing some files (libgimpui-2.0-0.dll was one of them for sure) You need to completely uninstall Gimp before you can install it again properly. Get a copy of Revo uninstaller from the link below and use it to uninstall Gimp for you. You should be good to go after that.

Hanging & do not come up

Try the mention below option to resolve you problem.

1: Click Start > run. Type msconfig. Check Selective Mode and click the "startup" tab. Uncheck everything which is not essential. Leave only antimalware programs (if you change your mind latter you can reactivate those programs). Confirm and reboot. Upon rebooting a message will show up. Please check it and continue. For laptop users: do not uncheck items that clearly relate to the operation of the computer.

2: In Add/Remove programs, in Control Panel, uninstall all unnecessary toolbars such as Yahoo, google and others. Latter on you can download them again.

3: If you have Internet Explorer 7 installed as a windows update, uninstall it in add/remove programs in control panel. This will roll you back to internet explorer 6. Latter on you can download it again as a Windows Update.

4: Go to Task Manager and report processes that seem to be loading the computer. Please ignore Idle Processes.

5: Download HD Tune and under Benchmarking run a complete performance test. Please report Average data transfer for the entire test.

6: Go to Device Manager, expand IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers. Right click the Primary IDE channel and choose to uninstall it. Reboot and let Windows reload the driver. Repeat the procedure with Secondary IDE channel.

7: Following step no. 2 run HD Tune again and report the results as you did in step no. 1.
