Question about Car Audio & Video

1 Answer

On a 2008 Toyota Sequoia with the JBL radio/GPS, is there a way to bypass the lockout that prevents setting the GPS and phone book while the car is moving. It is a pain to have to stop the vehicle when the passenger could easily enter info.

the answer is no. Unfortunately, you cannot bypass the lockout. That's how it was made from the factory. Try any stunt will surely damage something and I'm sure you know how expensive the car is, likewise its parts. Tying to do any bypass will involve loosing of wires and re-connections.

You just have to manage and cope with the situation.

Take care.

2008 sequoia jbl no sound

my guess, is you didnt read the operators guide.?????
and the warning, "back all NAV and RADIO codes", so when
the battery dies, (it will) you dont need to go to the dealer.
posted 30 times.. now. just me and 1000 others, (i searched)
so if the battery died, the radio shuts down the amp. but
you can see scans work. ?
it does this because (all newer cars) to stop thieves.
they pull the battery, and horn , take the radio , and bingo its just a brick to them , in fact we call it, bricking the radio.

any dealer can give you the code or any certified lock smith.

its a new world, and i bet we both dont like it....

How to hook up the sirius stratus 5 radio in my 2008 rav4?

I have sirius installed in my 2008 RAV4 JBL system.
There is an adapter made by VAIS technologies that is called a soundlink. It comes with instructions for the connection. The Sirius radio is hidden in this installation, and is controlled by your JBL system. The antenna runs up the side of the windshield (hidden behind the plastic moulding) and mounts to the top right corner of the roof.

HOWEVER- you will not have the full funcionality of the Stratus 5 radio- which has more funtionality that the JBL system can control. Also, the Scrolling feature on the Stratus 5 screen does not work on the JBL display. . . you get the first 15 or so characters, with no scrolling.

I love having an integrated satelite radio in my car, but I do miss the better screen, and the pause feature I had on my sportster (in my old car). Good Luck.

JBL Error 1

Error one is unique to the disc being inserted into the player.
According to the service manual, this is the exact statement:

Err 1 appears on the display:
This indicates that the disc is dirty, scratched, damaged, incorrect (as in a "burnt" disc), or has been inserted upside down. Clean the disc or insert it correctly.

Toyota CD players are very sesnitive, and the svc manual specifically mentions not to use anything other than "store-bought" CDs.
