Wrong paper size message

Everytime a fax is sent to our machine, a blank sheet of paper feeds through, and the error message "wrong paper size..." appears. We must then press OK button to receive the fax.

Thanks for your help, Greg

I have the same exact problem. The fax is received in the 7310xi memory, but it will not print out the received fax until we press OK to the Paper Mismatch message. I notice that this doesn't happen when using the printer feature of the HP 7310xi...only when receiving a fax.

The exact error message on the 7310xi LCD screen is:

    "Paper Mismatch"

"Paper detected does not match paper size or type selected.
Change paper and press OK to continue job."

I tried changing the paper size setting in the fax setup menu:

    1. Press "Setup" button on the 7310xi

    2. Select option #4 "Basic Fax Setup"

    3. Press "OK" button

    4. Select option #5 Paper Size

    5. Press "OK" button

    6. Select paper size that matches the paper you have loaded in the tray

    7. Press "OK" button

For some reason, even though I have Letter size paper loaded in the tray, if I set the paper size settings in the 7310xi (procedure mentioned above) to Legal, then the error msg doesn't come up anymore and I can receive normally without having to do anything. I don't know if this is just a fluke or what? May help you, may not...try it and see...nothing to lose.

I changed the paper size to legal and then back to letter. There isn't a menu option for paper type "plain" in the fax menu. There is one in the copy mode so I will try that.

I have a konica 2400 w magic color. error message paper jam when no paper jam

Hi Camru, I wondering if the jam light is on at power up before data is sent to your machine or if it occurs after a print job is sent to it?

If it is on constant ie before a print is sent to it, then we have a sensor or paper detect switch activated. If this is the case then it can be a piece of paper or a remaining fragment of paper holding down the switch or the switch arm itself is broken or its corresponding light sencing photocell is covered in toner/dust.

In Printers there are a number of these sensors in the paper path, generally we have one that detects paper at cassette and bypass position, another at registration roller another at fuser exit, the machine monitiors these switchs for activation to tell if a jam is present. These switchs are tiny plastic arms that get pushed down when paper passes them which in turn blocks the photocell sencing light. One normally finds fragments of paper sticking the arm down, or the arm broken, most of the time the printer also tells us jam position so we know which switch it is seeing a jam condition at. Check the switch operation by looking for them, and ensuring the arm is moving freely.

The other possibility is the machine with no data present shows no error but a error occurs when a print job is sent to it. If this is the case it is caused usally by incorrect paper size settings in printer paper size menu or the printer drivers paper size settings on installed driver in printers under control panel of computer, It can also be caused if the paper is feeding multi sheets from cassete due to dirty rubber rollers in printer itself or not picking paper from tray at all as the feed roller is slipping on paper in tray due to losing its grippyness.

I clean feed rollers with water, just slightly damp rag and rub the rubber surface of the feed roller, sometimes they are so worn they need replacing, I will post a pic for you and also here is the service manual of a machine pretty much the same as yours.

This is another uses post on how he fixed his, please note this will be the same as yours only if jam only occurs after data is sent to your machine.

I have a Laser Class 710 and the error light keeps blinking. There is a message that says "incorrect paper size received in memory". How do I get rid of this?

Someone has probably sent you a fax on 8 1/2 x 14 inch (legal size) paper. Pull down the manual hand feed tray which is located above the regular paper cassettes and place some legal size paper in it. Hopefully the fax will be outputted and the message will go away. Good luck.

The paper isnt going through

If the paper feed rollers are not clean, they may slip and cause paper feeding problems.
The problem may be alleviated by performing paper feed roller cleaning.

1. Open the Printers folder.
- For Windows XP Home Edition Click/Select "Start," "Control Panel," "Printers and Other Hardware," and "Printers and Faxes."
- For Windows XP Professional Edition Click "Start" and "Printers and Faxes."
- For Windows 2000/Me/98 Click/Select "Start," and "Settings," then "Printers."
2. Right-click the icon of the printer for paper feed roller cleaning, and select Properties from the displayed list.
3. Click the Maintenance tab and click Roller Cleaning. 4. Remove all sheets of paper from the auto sheet feeder, and click OK. 5. Confirm the message to be displayed, and click OK.
Do not try other operations until printer's operation completes.
6. When the printer's operation is completed, follow the confirmation message to load three new sheets of A4 or letter-sized plain paper in the auto sheet feeder
7. Click OK.
8. Confirm the message to be displayed, and click OK.
Do not try other operations until all the three sheets are ejected.
Memo: The printer prints nothing on those sheets.
9. When all the three sheets of the paper are ejected, paper feed roller cleaning is completed.
10. Click OK.
Performing Roller Cleaning is completed.

Printer error reads 'Paper Out MP CTM'

Sounds like the document that is being sent to the printer, or the one if pending prints are present, has a page size set to other than what the printer has its set to for the tray feed (or tray feed is set wrong), so it is defaulting to the Manual Feed for insertion of correct medium CTM (not sure if int. but thats maybe a country thing we use A4, ENV and B5 mainly

If you see this message on the front panel of the HP PSC 2210 when you are receiving a fax, check that the paper size is set to match the paper size in the paper tray. (You cannot receive a fax on 4 x 6 paper or on an envelope.) Checking the paper size setting
  1. Press Setup .
  2. Press the right arrow until you see 3: Basic Fax Setup .
  3. Press Enter .
  4. Press the right arrow until you see 4: Paper Size .
  5. Press Enter .
  6. Press the right arrow until you see the paper size that matches the size of the paper in the paper tray.
  7. Press Enter .

Error message *346 with HP7310

since you have a 4 in 1 what i would do is go to your fax / printer settings and select spool to hard drive. There could be a possibility that all the data is not being stored on the fax machine. By sending your data to your hard drive first it will spool the data according to the performance and needs of your fax. Also check your time out feature on your fax machine. If the time out is set low it will send blank or only one sheet at a time. Because before the data is sent through the fax the system has already timed out. Another thing i found with the 4 in 1 is that as soon as you have your first paper going through you will want the second one right there ready to load. Sometimes if you wait to long before adding another sheet it will time out thinking you are done with your transmission.

'paper jam' error on canon pixma ip4300

Hi guys, I eventually found a solution to the problem for my printer. With the top cover open, I pushed a sheet of 120 micron thickness A4 clear plastic binding cover through the exit tray as far as it would go to rest against the bottom row of rollers. I switched the printer off then back on again and as the rollers lifted momentarily, I pushed the sheet of plastic as far up through the machine as I could before the rollers went down again - it went in a fair distance. The printer then ejected the plastic sheet. I then put the plastic sheet into the paper tray and tried to print a blank document page. The plastic fed through cleanly and my printer has been working since without any error messages. I hope this works for you.
