Question about Ruud UBHC Air Conditioner

2 Answers

I have a 4 ton Ruud HVAC system that is two years old. It is a 13 SEER unit. It is tilted slightly to the front of the evaporator to aid in draining the condensate. Two days ago, my daughter came home after being gone for a week. My wood floors are buckled and she has a large amount of mold in her bathroom cabinets. I had my HVAC man go by and he told me that no condensate was coming out of the evap unit. I asked him if it was blowing too hard and possibly blowing the water down the duct. He said he hadn't heard of such a thing. He called J&B Supply where I got it and they had no complaints from other contractors. He (repairman) termed the fan on medium low and the water will now come out. Can you give me some ideas of what the problem is?

1. Why would you tilt the evaporator to let the condensate come out never heard of this before it should flow at a level state.
2. I think you have a problems in your condensate drain.

If the condensate drain is clogged, water will stay in the condensate pan located below the evaporator.
As the water builds it most certinly will be picked up by the blower and travel through the duct work.

as most ac units are capillary tube control not tx valve having matched units is critical. as for cost the condensing unit is much more complex and expensive than the evaporator.

I HAVE A GOODMAN MODEL CKL36-1D I'M TRYING TO FIND OUT THE SEER RATING ON THIS MODEL.CAN ANYONE HELP?

Your going to need to know the age of the unit. If its less than 5 years old, its most likely a 13 SEER. If its anything more than 5 years old, its most likely a 10 SEER. If its anything over 10 years old, its most likely an 8 or 6 SEER.

Remember, that a unit will loose an average of 1-2 SEER for every full year of operation. This is just due to age, wear and tear, and usage.

So, if its a 10 SEER unit that is 7 years old, you could say that it is about as efficient as something in the 4-6 SEER range.

Going to replace hvac system. Don't know what

Hello,
According to the model number it is a 2 ton or 24,000 BTU unit. It is very important that you change the indoor coil as well as the outdoor section, due to it being a 10 SEER unit, and the new basic systems are 13 SEER, the old coil cannot handle the higher SEER ratings.
Rheem and Ruud are the same equipment, just 1 number different on the model number.
I hope this has helped, please rate the new guy :)
Please contact me if I can be of any further help to you.
Have a great day!
Sincerely,
Paul Gibson

Residential HVAC - Repair vs Replace? Heat Pump? Two Stage AC?

for 65 dollars i would replace the coil I do however love gas and heat pump combos it will cut your gas bill by about 75% only uses gas below 30 deg
you may want to try a honeywell 8000 stat it has random circulation fan comes on and just circulates the air also used for gas hp combo with an out door sensor and you don't need the fossil heat kit as for the copper if possible replace it due to don't trust any ones soldering as for units the are all about the same look for warranty some replace unit others have life time comp if only going to be in house for 10 yrs hard to recover cost give replacement allowance when sell
