I use a tape head adaptor . Tape cassette fits in as normal , the attached wire plugs into the headphone socket in either your personal cd player or mp3 player .

I want to hook up a aftermarket cd player to my factory 6 disc changer in my 2007 mercury mountaineer. Is that possible? And if so what decks should I look for as far as brand?

The short answer is no. The stacker will only be compatible with certain models of head unit, and the cabling between brands is different. If you know the supplier brand of the changer then contacting them, you might find that they released an equivalent head unit to the after market. If not then the whole system would have to be replaced

I have an Alpine IDA X300 head unit and I have just acquired a CHM S630 CD changer. Will these be compatible and work together?

No. The newer decks do not run changers anymore. In fact no one makes changers anymore. You would have to get an older alpine head unit to run that changer.

I am assuming you are talking about the tape deck (head unit) and not the changer. You more than likely have burned out bulbs in the face. Unless you are good at desoldering and soldering, I would suggest you have them replaced professionally.

Hello

I will give you a full rundown on how to install the cd changer;

Disconnect the car battery.

Run the cable from the Jensen changer to the back of your dashboard. Depending where you mount the changer, you might want to hide the cable under the carpet or run it along the door panel. Take some time before you mount the changer to figure out what is the best way to run the cable for your situation.

Remove your deck and the dashboard around it to access the back of the deck.

Locate the antenna lead plugged in to the back of your deck. Unplug it.

Find a good space to mount the FM modulator behind the dash and close enough to the deck to connect the antenna lead. You can secure the modulator to the inside of your dash by using two sided Velcro tape and place it where you need. Plug the antenna lead into the modulator's "Antenna In."

Connect the FM modulator to your deck by plugging the "Antenna Out" lead off the modulator to the antenna in on your deck.

Connect the two power cables from the modulator to your car's power. One lead goes to a constant source of power and one connects to a switched 12-volt power source.

Ground the modulator by running the black wire to an exposed screw. Wrap the wire around the screw and tighten it down so the wire doesn't come loose.

Reinstall your deck and dashboard.

Find a spot on your dash to mount the display unit. You can get creative and cut a hole in your dash and mount it that way or you can use Velcro tape and place it on your dash that way. Make sure it is close enough to the driver's seat so it can be accessed without having to reach too far. If there are loose wires hanging from under the dash you will want to tuck them under the dash and wrap them with wire ties.

Hey guys, I've just installed a CD changer in my car - having some difficulties getting it to work. After some Googling I came across this forum so I figured I'd see if any of you guys know where I'm...

there should be a small connector on the changer itself for the power ground and remote wire for power to the changer unit. the cord coming from the unit to the changer doesn't supply this power and this is why it wont eject and also your head unit wont recognize it until it gets powered up and able to communicate with the head unit and then it will show up as a selectable source when switching between sources of music. check the back of the changer for a small connector containing 3 or 4 pins and you should have a connector with the corresponding wires coming from it to plug into this spot after connecting the wires properly. if you bought it on ebay it is possible you didn't get this piece which is critical when connecting this changer.

Try disconnecting the power lead from the back of the head unit, wait 60 seconds then reconnect it. This should reset the head unit

Ok,

Look for a reset button at the back or may be at the front head of the cd changer. It is a very small 1mm hole.If you find it insert a paperclip in it,press and hold it for 1 min. This will reset the unit.If you still face the problem then just unplug all the cords of the changer for 1 hour and then plug it back in.
