Question about Freezers

Do you know what pressure a subzero model 561 circa 1989 should run at, we have no cooling, the pressure is low and it looks like it takes R-12. Can you confirm and advise how much to recharge it with? Thank you.

I got a true tssu-27 that won't cool what would be the problem with this unit?

Many times the air circulation across the condenser is the problem. Take a look at the condenser and make sure that the condenser fan is running and there isn't dirt or grease blocking air movement. There is also the obvious like a compressor that's not running or an iced up cooling coil. Is the compressor hot? Maybe an additional description would help. Are the fans inside the cabinet running? Good luck hope this helps.

Whirlpool freezer cool air but not freezing?

Check the seal first. Then check the freon. If it's R-12, you can go to the auto parts house. They have a bottle with a hose to add freon. You put it in on the "suction" low side with the unit running. you can tell when it has enough by feeling the low line be cold and teh high pressure line is warm to hot

Why is my True THAC-48 unit is not cooling?

need more info. is the condensor fan running? if not thermostat problem.if it is , is the compressor running or just makes a one time click a few seconds after plugged in? (after unplugged five minutes)... if this is the case it probably needs a new start capacitor (170 uf)..if the compressor is running the larger tube going in the commpressor should be cool about 40-50 after a few minutes .. if not then it is low on refrigerant..R-134 after 1995. or R-12 for older models.. now you also have inside fans and thermo buttons that can not be working.

FUM21D upright freezer, NOT frost free. Top shelf coil cooling, others are not. Sides are not as warm as usual. Running constantly. Coolant leak? Why top shelf cooling?

I note this is in fact not a frost free freezer and that there is not an evaporator OR a condensor fan. If it is running constantly and the cooling coils are clear as in not covered in lint then the most likely cause is a low coolant level. A low coolant level will allow partial but not total system cooling. The only way to know for sure is to have the systems pressures tested. At that point who ever checks the coolant pressure will have to determine why the coolant leaked out, repair the leak and then re-service the system with coolant.

I replaced compressor for a hussman refrig and its hums loud

God day,
Some thoughts.
1. Are the evap fan motors running, and at full speed. That would give you abnormally low suction pressure.
2. Cap tube sized too small. or partial restriction in the dryer cap tube/dryer when brazing in the lines.
3. Low ambient. What's the temp the machine is running in.
4. Over sized compressor.
5. Moisture. God, 134A is touchy on that one.
6. Was original cap tube soldered to the suction line to create a heat exchanger. Needed on many apps. Definately would cause flash back on start up.
7. Superheat a little low, should be 12 to 15 degrees.

Have a subzero set - fridge and freezer. The

First, check the compressor fan. Make sure it is turning. If this fan is not working properly, the refrigerant will be be cooled adequately. This lowers the efficiency of the refrigerator and causes it to run more.

The fan is probably located in the back of the bottom of the refrigerator. It pulls air across the coils and blows the heat out the back of the unit.

If the fan is not turning, the fan motor will need to be replaced.

I have a Subzero 501F that stopped freezing. The compressor is running(replaced about 2 years ago.) and all of the fans are working. Any ideas?

Either the unit is low or out of freon or the fan that cools the condenser has stopped working. If you can improvise a fan to blow on the condenser, yould should be able to tell if that is the problem within a few hours. If you can locate the fan and it is not working then you have found the problem.

Whirlpool model ET18PK not cooling

You have either got an internal leak or there is a bolckage in the system. switch off as soon as poss. as the gas is what keeps the comp. cool.being low on gas , comp.will eventually burn out. Quick check so that you have nothing to loose. (inspection for blockage). Look for the copper drier .At the back by the compressor. It has a 1/4 inch copper pipe on the one side and a very thin pipe on the other. Flex the thin pipe until it breaks. If gas pours out of the broken area. then its a good sign which Indicates a blockage. Decide weather it would be worth it to regas. If no gas comes out or very little, almost certainly it is an internal leak. In that case look for something else.
