Are you getting this error message when you try to play a game? Did you recently upgrade the firmware of your Nintendo? Have you tried playing another game and see if the same error will occur?

If the error is happening when trying to play a game, and if it's only happening on one game only, but not the other games, then you could have an illegal (bootlegged) copy.

But if it's happening on some other games, then the firmware could be blocked. Check the version of your firmware and see if you have 1.3 version. But if you have 1.4U version, I think it's better to send the console to the manufacturer.

This is actually a known issue when the firmware of your Nintendo is upgraded to 1.4U.

You may go to settings and check what firmware the DSi is on.

Thank you and good luck!

Hello,

The reason your nitendo DSI showed the eror message is because there was something not properly seated in the console.

Check the battery pack and ensure its charged [LED light on upper right corner should be lit GREEN].
-If AC wall power adapter is being used, ensure both the connector [into DS lite] and wall plug [to outlet] are securely connected.
-Check the battery contacts and clean if necessary using a pencil eraser or lightly scrape contacts until entire surface is shiny.
-Check the placement and orientation of battery pack to ensure its connected securely and properly.
-Replace battery if the battery life between charges is less than 3 hours [should last between 5 to 19 hours] as this indicates a weak battery pack.
There are different problems that could be troubleshooted, so your case is that you need to run a check on every connection in the game.

To do this, follow these steps;

  1. Plug your Nintendo DS Lite into the charger. Sometimes the only problem with a machine is that its battery is dead.
  2. If the problem is with your screen, make sure the contrast levels are set correctly. You can access your contrast levels through the DS Lite's main menu.
  3. Make sure your screen is not cracked. If the screen is cracked, a possible effect is that no picture will appear.
  4. Make sure you are pressing hard enough with the stylus if you are having trouble accessing menus or playing games.
  5. Make sure the game cartridge is pressed firmly into the DS Lite console. If you are having trouble playing games, it may be that the game is not inserted completely.
Take care

Then the problem is a software problem and need to be checked on a computer.Get the appropriate software for the game and the required cable then flash it.

That will automatically troubleshoot the console.

    Take care

My nintendo has got a problem for a few months now. when turn on the power button, it has given an error messagge "an error has occurred. press and hold the power button to turn the system off....

If the following error message appeared in your DSi or DSI XL: "An error has occurred. Press and hold the POWER button to turn the system off...", It means that your Nintendo has been updated (by the Internet) to the version 1.4.2 (or 1.4.3) or you bought it updated. In this case your DSi XL or DSi doesn't work with any flashcard in the market.

If you don't have an updated flashcard, the solution requieres both "updating the kernel of your flashcard" and also "patching it". I hope it helps you.

Simple fix... stop pirating and buy the games.
The message ''An error has occurred'' is a typical message which many users have encountered on their DSi, DSi XL, 3DS and Wii. It happens when either a blocked modchip or flashcart is detected by the console.

Message an error has occurred. press and hold the power button to turn the system off. please see the nintendo dsi operations manual for help troubleshooting

This means something has happened within the DSi itself. It is out of your control. Just turn it off and then back on. Hopefully this should resolve your issue. If problem persists look for further help. Good luck :)
