Hi,
Let me know model number of your Sony record player to help you out.
Model number would be written on rear or bottom of unit.
Thanks.

Need to pull up platter mate then platter, fix belt around platter and hook some wire between platter, turn it in U shape and rubber belt, this wire will support to pull rubber belt to set it on motor that located chassis of record player.
Now place back platter on its center shaft but do not let it go all the way down, pull that supporting wire and seat the belt over motor pulley, then press down platter to fix in its position. Now slowly pull one side of supporting wire so it came off from belt and platter.
slowly rotate platter to confirm belt is fixed properly on motor pulley. Turn power On and confirm platter rotation.
Following exploded view taken from service manual will help you.
    Thanks.

I have a JVC VCR/DVD-recorder, model DR-MV7S. It developed a problem... when you placed a DVD on the tray & pressed the "eject/open" button to take the DVD into the recorder, the tray...

This can be due to a faulty LOADING drive settings, It can be due to a misalignment of the loading section and so the load does not reset to the PARK CONDITION of the MODE.
It can be a aulty gear, belt or jamming in the drive.
You need to open the player, remove the mechanism and manually check the forward and loading motion which can confirm. If the belt or the drive is jammed this can be checked and replaced or reset.
Check the mode switch settings of the forward loading.

Turntable won't turn

There is usually a cotter pin at the center of the platter around the spindle base. This can be removed with a screw driver using a twisting motion. There is a blades worth of space between the clip and the spindle base. Screw driver should be in vertical position. Sometimes the vinyl slip mat must be removed first. Watch that clip, cause it can go flyin. Once the clip is removed, the turntable should let go easily.

Record player belt

Scott, the belt wraps around the bottom of the turntable platter, then put the platter back on your turntable, and you'll have to pinch back a section of the belt and wrap around the brass motor spindle. That's pretty much it!

Good luck.
