The resistance motor on our WESY75740 stopped working. We tried to recalibrate, but it failed to do anything. What should we do?

I would check the wiring harness. I have a Weider Platinum WESY78732 and have had issues with wires coming off of the motor. I ended up putting an automotive (female) spade connector on the end and squeezing it with pliers to keep it on there tighter. A lot of these Weider Home Gyms have wiring issues.

I bought two of these. The main problem with these units is the motor burning out, and that happens because Weider uses a heavy grease on the threaded spindle/shaft the motor turns and it becomes gummy. Your motor may be stopping because it can't push past the grease, and it might also be overheating. There is likely an overheat protector in the motor that will reset after it cools down. If you want to destroy the motor, keep operating it with the heavy grease on it. The solution is to take the back cover off and use a degreaser like wd-40 to completely remove all of the black grease from the mechanism. It is better if you actually disassemble the part that moves along the threaded shaft and threaded shaft if possible to get all of the grease out. Once it is totally clean, then use a synthetic motor oil on it, dripping a few drops on the part that slides on the threaded shaft and a few drops over the shaft itself. Then operate the weight from one end to the other to get the shaft coated with oil. Once a year, add a couple of drops of oil. After doing this repair, you will never have any more motor problems.

Also, the motor position is kept track of by counting rotations of the shaft. You need to reset this using the procedure in the book. It will take the system all the way to one end of the travel stop in the process.

I would check the main wiring harness, from the motor board to the console. Check the connection where the main frame connects inside the right upright bar. Remove the triangle shaped plastic cover bolt and side it up the upright bar. You will see the harness. Pull it through the acess hole the check the connection.Make sure all connections are tight.inclines motors rarely fail. To get it down you can reverse the red and black wires from the incline motor to the motor controller. Then run the calibration, once it's down just pull the safety key. It could be the display board or MCB

Ryobi troubleshooting

The motor may have overheated and burned open. Use a multimeter to check resistance across the battery contacts in the tool with the switch closed. If it reads open, the motor has failed.

The incline is stuck in the highest position

Try recalibrate. If that dont work, replace the incline motor.
  1. Press speed^ and stop simultaneously
  2. Insert key
  3. Press stop once
  4. Press Incline up
  5. (This should recalibrate incline). If this fails, replace the incline motor.

Weider Crossbow Platinum The weight resistance needs calibration 20 lbs feels like 100 lbs. How can I fix this?

ADJUSTING THE RESISTANCE When the resistance setting changes, the motor will be heard. To prevent damage to the motor, do not pull any of the cables while the resistance setting is changing. If a cable is pulled, the words RELEASE HANDLES AND READJUST RESISTANCE AS DESIRED may appear in the main display on the console. If this message is displayed repeatedly but no cable is being pulled, there may be too much tension on the Upper Cable . Adjust the tension as described below. To decrease the tension on the Upper Cable.turn the two 3/8” x 38mm Tension Screws twice, counterclockwise. Select the desired resistance setting.Repeat this step if necessary.CLEANING THE BAR GUIDES Over time, dust may build up on the Crossbar Guides , causing a squeaking noise as the resistance system is used. If this occurs, wipe off the Crossbar Guides with a damp cloth and a mild, non-abrasive detergent. Do not use solvents.
RECALIBRATING THE CONSOLE To recalibrate the Console , first plug in the resistance system . Plug the indicated end of the Transformer into the Back Mech Cover . Plug the other end of the Transformer into a 120-volt outlet. All indicators and displays on the console will flash once; the console will then be ready for use. The motor may be heard while the resistance system calibrates itself. Important: Always plug in the transformerwhen using the resistance system., press and hold the NEXT button and the MOTORIZED WEIGHT ADJUSTMENT + button for five seconds. When the buttons are released, a number will appear in the REPS display. Press the NEXT button again, then press the MOTORIZED WEIGHT ADJUSTMENT + button; this will start the recalibration process. This may take a few minutes as the motor moves between the lowest and highest resistance settings. When the motor finishes, unplug the transformer from the 120- volt outlet. The Console will be recalibrated. Use the resistance system as described in the CONSOLE

Fan motor stopped working, replacement went out too!

I would look for another outlet for you to plug it in before you start anything elaborate. I assume you've done this already but spin the motor/blade. If it spins and there is little or no play in the shaft or blades causing a blade to bind up the mechanical part seems ok.

Now if you have a volt meter First check the motor for voltage, Then if you have voltage, compare it to the rating on the motor. Usually a voltage within 10% is ok. Next test resistance on the wires of the motor any resistance and the winding is probably okay. If not then the motor is out again. If you have lost voltage the control board is your next part to test. No voltage out to the motor there on the board plug and the board is the problem Power there woudl mean the motor has too high a resistance and Id check the resistance on a differant known good motor before replacing it. just so you know where you started.
