Question about Amana ARB2205C Bottom Freezer Refrigerator
You most likely have a defective defrost thermostat in this model. It
is located behind the cover in the freezer compartment and is a small
round device with two wires attached to it. It is attached to the
freezer coils on the top right hand side. It usually has an orange and a
brown wire connected to it.
Part number is 12001937 and should cost about 23.00. This part should read "closed" on a continuity check when it is frozen, and opens when it is warmed above about 55 degrees.
The idea behind this part is to shut off the heater during defrost should it get too warm in the evaporator area, however when they fail it does not allow the heater to come on.
