Question about Haier Dehumidifiers

Open Question

I have a Haier 39R 101A. It's running but isn't pulling any water out of the air. I've opened it up and it's clean. There's a little rust on the sides of the foremost element other than that, nothing. It was working fine up until two days ago. It's around two years old.

SOURCE: Dehumidifier does not collect water.

I had the same problem. I just narrowed it down to the humidistat by wrapping it in a baby wipe. It runs smooth now and fills the bucket....I'm off now looking for a replacement.

SOURCE: water leaks around the bucket even the bucket is in place-bucket collects a little bit of water

It sounds like you need to check the drain under the cooling section. It can fill with dust, lint, cat hair, spiders, etc. and prevent water from draining into the bucket. First, unplug the unit. Don't do anything with AC power present. Then, remove the 2 screws under the front panel where the air filter slides up in and pull off the control panel. There are "snap" latches in the plastic near the top that can be (are) hard to undo, so be careful. You might want to have work gloves on because of sharp edges. Prying with a screw driver will cause permanent dents in the plastic. Also, there is a small, sleeved bunch of wires that goes up the left side to the operator buttons and display. Be careful not to damage it and the circuit board it goes to. Set the front panel aside, wire attached. There is no need to disassemble any of that. The drain is a small 3/8" hole in the black plastic floor of the cooling area at the front, right side. It seems to have a fitting for a hose that feeds through to the back of the unit. Clean any foreign material from it and everything else. Test it, with the bucket in place, by pouring some water in, if you want to. Then clean the dust off of everything so it looks new. Don't get the circuit board wet. Re-assemble, being careful with the front panel wire so it is not pinched and does not prevent easy removal/installation of the filter, and it should be OK.

SOURCE: Dehumidifier does not collect water.

If your dehumidifier doesn't seem to run often but the humidity in the room is high, try adjusting the humidistat control on the dehumidifier to a dryer setting. If the dehumidifier seems to run constantly, but there's little or no water in the container, there may be a problem in the refrigeration system. Try cleaning the unit. If that doesn't work, you can't repair the refrigeration system yourself, you need a qualified appliance repair technician to do that.

Hope that helps! Should you have any further questions, please feel free to post them here.

P.S. - If you find that the solution/answer I provided led you to, or resulted in a fix, please close the ticket with a FixYa! rating. I would be very grateful for your show of appreciation.

I have dehumidifier Whirlpoot Gold Model #39R171E Serial #H/XE11M1K 6203A it was working fine last year, but this year it is not collecting any water, it is running for day. I opened it, cleaned the filter (which was mostly clean) & it still has not water in bucket. What is wrong & is it possible to fix it by myself.

the condenser (air intake) is blocked, most likely with dust, and the fan isn't passing enough air flow. either the fan is overworking and making noise or the compressor is overheating. if it can't cool down, the evaporator (cold coil) won't get cold enough to collect condensation. unplug the unit, take it outside, open the front, and hose the condenser down. if you can see light through it, it's ok. if not, spray some simple green degreaser on it and hose it down again after about 5 minutes. if you have a stiff bristled brush, use that, too.

Model DE45EJ-L Fan works , does not take humidity out of the air

clean the dust off of the condenser in the front or the filter if it has one. no air flow results in overheating and no condensation across the evaporator coil.

My Haier dehumidifier is harly removing any moisture from the air. It appears to run normally and I have cleaned the filter regularly. I've owned it about a year and it is model HD456E. It worked very...

If the evaporator coils behind the filters become too dirty condensation can be seriously ********. Check to see if the fins require any attention; they can be cleaned very carefully with a toothbrush and some water usually. If the buildup has become severe special chemicals need to be used on the unit- not something recommended the average person attempt. If the fins are clear check other airflow issues. Dehumidifiers generally need a period of 3 days to balance an area properly when functioning and sized appropriately.

swagner115, I can appreciate your frustration, but your dissatisfaction needs voiced to Haiier, not FixYa,com. Never-the-less, there are no maintenance free products on the market. Least of all Dehumidifiers. If routine maintenance isn't performed regularly, the products fail to work as they should. The other factor is "Operator Error". More times than not, that's really the problem. So, hopefully, the information below will help you. Some of which is just Routine Maintenance.

Usually there are 5 basic causes for what you have described. They are all solvable. Pay particular attention to numbers 1 & 2.

1. The humidity extraction level is set to HIGH. Lower it to 32-35%.

2. Air intake filter is dirty or clogged. Turn unit OFF, remove and clean it, if necessary. If washed,
allow filter to completely dry before reinstalling. DO NOT operate the unit without the filter.

3. Obstructed air flow. Maintain a minimum of 12 to 18" of clear air space around the entire unit.

4. Cooling coils are dirty and need to be cleaned. Use warm water & dish washing liquid to clean
the coils. Rinse and wipe dry. Apply a light coating of WD40 to the coils.

5. Ambient air temperature at floor level is between 40 - 60 degrees F. Dehumidifiers do not work
well between those temperatures (Unless, you have a Low Temp Unit). This applies mainly to
basement applications, where the air temperature at floor level is colder than at shoulder level.
Raising the unit up off the floor, onto a sturdy table, counter top, etc, that can handle the weight
of the unit, plus a full tank of water, will usually resolve this problem.

If none of the above solves the problem, it may be a case of the compressor needs to be recharged with refrigerant gas or that the humidity sensor has failed. These things usually occur in units that are 5 years old or older. It's rare in a unit younger than that. But, it can happen.

Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks

Humidifier collects very little water

Check to see that the air is flowing freely through the dehumidifier. They will accumulate dust particles and become plugged. Also make sure that it is not freezing up (you would see ice forming inside through the vent openings). I have had to remove the case to clean lint from some units to get them to operate more efficently. Always unplug the unit to clean and service it.
