Question about Canon PIXMA MP600 all-In-One InkJet Printer

I have recently upgraded my Acer Aspire computer from Windows XP to Windows 7 and I now find that my Canon MP610 Printer/Scanner will not scan documents, etc directly to the computer. When hitting the scan button wirh the mouse the following message keeps popping up: Scan Gear ''Cannot communicate with the scanner. Cable may be disconnected or scanner may be turned off. Check status. Scanner driver will be closed.'' I have checked all of the above as well as looking to see if bi-directional support is turned on in the property dialogue box, but it does not appear in properties. I have also contacted Canon here in Auckland and they have no answer to my problem. Incidentally the scanner works fine when scanning copies directly to the printer. Just, not to the computer. I have also downloaded and installed all latest drivers for this machine to work with Windows 7. Everything worked fine under WindowsXP.

Hi. Based on the issue and the diagnostics that you provided. Your printer seems to work fine and has no problem since its working with Windows XP platform. The only problem is when you plugged it in to Windows 7. Basic troubleshooting is also done by installing latest driver for your printer in order to work with the Windows 7. Try using the printer with other windows 7 computer just to test if it will work with other windows 7. if same issue will happen. Then, this could be a printer issue. Possible there is a need to install new firmware for that unit. If you were able to installand use the printer with other windows 7 computer then there could be a problem with your computer.

try scanning your hard drive for spyware and mailware.use malwarebytes its free to use and will remove problems.that might slow your computer down.also try upgrading your memory.if you have a celeron or amd cpu.that could be your problem as to why it is slow

I have a Canon MP620 Wireless all in one printer - it is printing and copying fine, but whenever I try to scan, it aborts due to scanner driver. It was working perfectly until I installed Windows 7...


If you upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7 on the same computer, did you uninstall the MP620 drivers first? If not, the old driver files can be causing the problem.

To correct, go to this link, type "windows 7" in the search box in the center of the screen, and click on the Search button. Now click on the link "ERROR: Cannot communicate with printer after upgrading to Windows 7". You will have a step-by-step procedure for uninstalling the old files and downloading/installing the Windows 7 drivers (printer and scanner).

Can I save a scanned image using MP610?


Yes. PIXMA MP610 is a multifunction printer that has printer/copier/scanner capabilities.
Just install the software and drivers supplied with your printer (or download them from CANON ) and connect the printer do the computer.
The printer sofware will guide you through the operation of scanning an image and saving it to a a file in the computer.

Canon MP610 Scans blurry images and photos


I had the same problem with one of these units. I had another one that worked great so I knew it should work. I called Canon and after some questions about the problem they sent me a replacement unit which works fine.

Printer driver for Canon MP610 to work with Windows 98 please?


there are no drivers available Windows 98 or Windows Me,this operating system may not require a driver or in this case of older operating systems may no longer be supported. try upgrading your windows,THERE ARE DRIVERS FOR WINDOWS 2000, XP,VISTA. SORRY FOR THE BAD NEWS

Scanner


Go to this link. Select Windows XP in the Select OS box. You will see Canon's printer driver for the BJC-2100, and under 'Software' you will see ISScan_v350.exe which is actually the driver for the IS-22, compatible with Windows XP.

Install and download both files on your computer. I know that Windows XP has a driver already for the BJC-2100, but it may not work properly with the IS Scan driver.

Canon mp610 scanning problem


The readme says that some USB hubs have an issue.

I was having problems and was connected via a hub. I removed the hub and connected the printer directly to the back of the PC and voila scanning is all good.
