Sony handy cam mini dv dcr-trv19 no picture recorded screen is black, everything else seems ok

Hi,

There is one home remedy you can try:
tap it around the lens area with a hard object (tip of a screwdriver) and it may work It may be well worth you tapping the case in this way (without pulling the camcorder to bits) on the top, about an inch back from the front of the lens a couple of times.

Jvc mini dv camcorder, telling me that the lens cap is on, when it is not

The iris is stuck inside the lens assembly. This is not a home repair. This unit should be taken to a JVC authorized service center.

JVC Mini DV Camera - Lens cap

When the amount of light detected by the camera is next to zero, this message will appear. If the lens cap is off, then the problem is that the iris is stuck shut. This is not a common problem, but is not unheard of either. If this is the case, the unit needs service. This is not a repair that should be done by an inexperienced person. This involves dis-assembling part of the optical pathway. Figure around $100 for the repair.

Looking through the problems posted for all jvc camcorders it became obvious that mine was CCD problem, encountered by many others. Also jvc are fixing this for free, so if you have this problem go to a jvc sevice centre and you should have no problems. Suffice to say this site was invaluable in diagnosing my problem, and you have been recommended to my friends. Thankyou, I'll be back.
