Connecting USB modem to a router is not possible. You will need a normal modem or a modem *** router.A modem *** router has both the router as well as the modem in it.

If you just have a normal router then you will need to buy a normal modem and connect the router with thte modem.

If you can give me the model no. of the router i'll let you know which one it is.

You need to buy a wireless modem/route, which is a router with wireless built in modem capabilities.
Remove usb modem from your network and Connect the modem/router to phone line with phone cable. connect computers to network, using a wired connection(use RJ45 ethernet cable that will come with router) to configure it.
To configure the new modem router you will probably to make a long call to your Internet Service Provider. They will guide step by step in configuring your router.
After configuring broadband on router, activate wireless following instruction in router control panel.
    Here is an example of

Wireless Broadband RouterLet me know your location to receive price and models in your country, also tell me your broadband internat provider to get ISP contact number.

    Here is a

    Belkin 802.11g Wireless Modem Router
The brand does not make a big difference, Belkin, Netgear, D-Link are popular brands.

If you have the router already connect to Pc using ethernet cable, that looks like a thicker phone cable. Then you need to open router control panel typing router ip number (refer to your manual for number, often is 10.0.0.1 or 192.168...something, like 192.168.0.1).
At this point your router will ask user ID and password to access.
ID is always Admin, password vary depending on model, you find it on manual.
Once you gain access to router panel you need to call Internet provider to get broadband settings. They will follow step by step in setting your router for their broadband. Let me know provider name to get the contact number.

I have a thompson speedtouch 510 that works just fine but when i add my SPARKLan WRTR-141 it wont get connected neither by the computer or the laptop. i have 2 ethernet cables i added one end of the first...

Have you gone into the SPARKLan and configured it yet? It should be like this Speedtouch>SPARKLan>your computer in to the SPARKLan.
Turn on your new routers SSID so it can be "found" by the wireless devices. You should turn OFF the DHCP server in the Speedtouch and turn DHCP ON in the SPARKLan.

Hope this helps.

I have a new laptop that i am trying to connect to a wireless connection. I have a speedtouch modem which has a dsl line

Your modem must first have wireless capability. If not, you need to buy a wireless router which you need to connect to the modem. Once you've done that, you can actually call the manufacturer of the router so they can walk you through setting up the wireless connection.

My laptop has vista installed via usb from virgin cable modem.what must i do to install a belkin wireless g mimo router using ethernet connection?

Huh? You installed Vista through your Virgin Cable Modem? What on earth does that mean?

Are you trying to ask "How do I install my Belkin Wireless G Router?"

If that is the actual question, here is the answer:

1) Unplug your cable modem from your computer.
2) Plug the cable modem into the router using a Ethernet Cable.
3) Plug the router into the computer using another Ethernet Cable.
4) Plug in the power supply for the cable modem and then the router.

(If your cable modem is ONLY USB, and doesn't have a spot to plug in a Ethernet Cable, you'll have to call Virgin and replace the modem with a model that does)

Once everything is up and running, you should be on the internet as soon as the computer starts.

(You may want to log into the router and disable the "Wireless" settings if you aren't using them to stop others from gaining entry to your network)

Belkin router when connected will send wireless signal but will not allow mother computer to gain access to internet. tried bridging on dsl, and pinging. when i called belkin the @#$%^& told me it...

Assuming your router is set correctly to your modem or the password and username are set correctly in a modem/router, make sure DHCP is enabled in the router, this gives each pc an ip address automatically.

Go to open internet explorer>tools>internet options>connections tab and ensure never dial a connection is ticked or greyed out. close IE

go to network connections, right click on your wireless adapter>properties>highlight TCP/IP line>properties and make sure that obtain an ip address automatically is ticked.

Open up internet explorer again and click refresh a few times, it will detect the proxy server then should connect, if not then the router configuration is wrong.

Try using a dynamic ip address. I think you only use the static if having problems. Just read this.

A dynamic IP address is assigned to a customer’s modem or router, generally via a remote server (such as our own UWClub server). This provides the user with an IP address from an available pool of addresses every time a connection is made. This is the most common type of IP address for our broadband/Broadcall customers.

Thats off The Utility Warehouse page.
