Re: Red status light
44 error means short detected. My experience with this chassis has bee Bad capacitors Jamiccon 1000uf and above. possibly the two 100ufs cap on the PWB have shorted. this chassis is no bad to worl on however without the service manual you will have a hard time even getting the chassis out to gain access to the boards to service. I recommend going to this link for 15.99 they will email you the factory service manual instantly and give some free tech support in case you need any tech support. Thats a nice TV and a repair shop will want to change boards and thats exspensive compared to a few dollars for new capacitors. But 90% of that chassis's problems can be traced to bad jamicon capacitors. Heres the link if you want the service manual http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/

If you have a voltage meter you can pull the bulb out and check for continuity by placing the probes on the power plugs of the bulb. If you have continuity the bulb should be good, and it may be the lamp ballast.
If one of your 4 fans stop working you will get a red blinking light. These do go bad after awhile. Part is under $10 at an electronics parts store if it is a fan. You have to open up the back and see if all 4 fans are working. If the light comes on after initial warmup then it is probably the main exhaust fan on the back cover of the tv. If it comes on during warmup period, then it could be your chassis fan. These are the two fans that usually will go bad.
Make sure you seated the lamp right, but most likely the two 3300 and two 2200Ufd capacitors are bad on the power board. These routinely go bad after about 3-4 years of use on the tv. Parts are less than $10 bucks but you have to know how to solder circuit boards. Good luck
Hi Sally Jo, Unit powers on and works properly for a while then shuts off with a red lamp LED (lamp error). Suspect bad lamp part # 915P020010 2. Lamp enable line at J14 pin 6 does not switch to 5 volts after turn on, 12 and 5 volt supplies are good. Suspect the Light Engine part # 939P977010 3. At power on the lamp turns on and off three times and then the unit shuts down with a red lamp LED (lamp error). Replace the Light Engine part # 939P977010 4. Check for 12-volts DC at J-9 connector pin 4 on the Engine Driver PCB, if missing check for an open F9A09 on the Power PCB, if it is open replace F9A09 part # 283P127060 and the Light Engine part # 939P977010 5. Lamp enable line at connector J14 pin 6 on the Engine Driver PCB switches to 5 volts after turn on but does not go back to 0-volts (low) after 5 seconds, 12 and 5 volt supplies are good. Suspect the Light Engine part # 939P977010 6. Check for 5-volts DC at J-9 connector pin 1 and 2 on the Engine Driver PCB if missing replace the Power PCB part # 934C148001. Hope this helps!
I have a 2 year old Mitsubishi Rear Projection 52" model WD-52525. I recently experienced the same problem as you. My TV quit without any warning and the red lamp light came on. I bought a replacement lamp just like you did, did everything you did too, but it still didn't work either. Since it's past the 1 yr warranty (of course), I took it in to an authorized service center for an estimate. They determined the light engine failed and it will cost me $816.35 to repair. I already shelled out $240+ for a lamp, $48 for the repair estimate and I said "hell" no, I'm not going to fix it for another $800+ and bought a new TV. I'm writing a letter to Mitsubishi expressing my deep dissatisfaction (to put it mildly) with this faulty product and will be requesting reimbursement, which I probably won't get. I sincerely hope this is not the same problem your TV has, but if it is be prepared for a costly fix.
