    i had the same problem with an old 120 mb stick and then realised it had a lock button which when unlocked allowed me to erase files, however the freed up space did not become available until i erased the stick with disk utility. i though i would do the same with my 1gb stick (no lock button) but when i connected it up i found i could delete folders normally - strange!!

you probably will not like my solution but my problem was only a mini external drive with about 20 files. I opened each file and <save> to another drive. For me it was easy, I saved to my HD. Then open Disk Utility and <erase> my mini drive, which remformatted me a clean and usable drive. Then just copied the files I saved and DONE.

Error 1407 external drive

That's a Mac error stating that the file you are trying to delete is currently being accessed.

First, close all open programs and try to delete the file. If that doesn't work, eject the drive by clicking the eject button in a Finder window. Disconnect the drive. Reboot. Then reattach the drive and immediately delete the file.

How do I change from internal memory to external memory on my camera?

Hi,

You can copy all the images from the Internal Memory to a Memory Stick Duo media using the COPY option in the Memory Stick Tool Menu option.

Please insert the Memory Stick Duo media with sufficient free capacity into the Camera.
Select MENU--> Settings-->Memory Stick Tool-->COPY-->OK.

The original images in the Internal memory retain after copying. You may have to delete the contents of the internal Memory. Remove the Memory Stick media after copying, then format the internal memory. FORMAT in Internal Memory Tool.

You can only copy the images to the new folder created on the Memory Stick Duo which is created automatically. You cannot copy the images to a specific folder.

Thanks for using FixYa.

The DCIM folder was deleted from my sony memory stick. How can I relaod this?

Assuming this is for a camera, put it back in the camera, using the camera's set up menu, re-format the card. (This deletes all data so make sure you've removed any photo's you want to keep before hand) Once completed, take a photo, the file system should be re-established.
