Question about Hampton Bay (261025) Dual Mount Ceiling Fan

1 Answer

Ceiling fan I lost the screws to reattach the blades to my hampton bay ceiling/light fan in my kids room. I removed the blades from the fan about 5 years ago when my kids were smaller and in bunk beds. Now that they're bigger and the bunks have been taken down, I can't find the screws to reattach the blades. The fan is a 42 in. white hampton bay with 4 light bulbs encased in separate glass off-shoots and the fan is about 10 years old.

If the fan blade mounts are removable, go to your local hardware store with one of the mounts, and find some screws that will fit. You might not be able to get the same color, but if you check a few stores you should find something with the right shape of head to fit snugly.

How do you remove a canopy cover from a Hampton Bay fan?

Turn off the circuit breaker supplying power to the ceiling fan. The circuit breaker is in your home electrical box and may control more than just the ceiling fan. Place a stepladder under the Hampton Bay fan.

Remove the light bulbs and light covers from the fixture, if you have a light assembly on your ceiling fan. Remove the screws securing the light assembly housing to the fan with a Phillips screwdriver. Lower the light assembly, and hold it in one hand.

Twist counterclockwise the wire nuts securing the wires for the ceiling fan and light assembly, using your free hand to separate the wires. Lower the light assembly from the fan and set it in a safe place.

Turn the screws securing the fan blades to the unit with a Phillips screwdriver. Remove the blades from the fan and set them aside. Find the screws securing the canopy to the ceiling mounting plate. Loosen the screws two complete revolutions. Turn the canopy counterclockwise and unhook it from the screws. Slide the canopy over the fan motor housing and away from the fan.

Ask a helper to hold the fan motor housing if you have a Hampton Bay fan with a down rod. Slide the canopy over the down rod until it rests on top of the motor housing. Disconnect the fan wires from the ceiling wires, twisting the plastic wire caps counterclockwise. Slide the hangar ball, at the top of the down rod, out of the mounting bracket. Slide the canopy over the top of the down rod to remove it from the fan.

I am missing several screws for attaching the fan blades to the housing assembly. What thread are they? The length appears to be 7/16"

Remove one of the screw from a fan blade and take it to a hardware store. Tell them you need some to replace the lost ones for your ceiling fan blades.

I bought a house with hampton bay fans and used a different lighting kit and hooked blue and black wires together and white to white wires and plugged connector back in and light kit will not light and...

If you have the fan working are sure there is not a light switch some where in th room that goes to the light side of the fan.and the chain for the light will have to be pulled to on also.is it a remote control fan that would have a remote that has been lost.some fans have a little black box in them that is a radio cntrl.you should be able to remove the fan with a few screws at the base next to the ceileing.be careful they can be heavy.

I have a 4 blade HB cieling fan. 2 above 2 blades. Where to put the reciever seems to be no room. Instructions were missing.

The receivers in my 3 hampton bay fans actually slides into the upper portion of the hanging bracket ( the thing you screwed into your ceiling fixture that the fan hangs off of)..
It fits rather nicely once you make room for it with the wiring etc
Hope this helps.

I have the Hampton Bay 5-Light Track Lighting

Skill, patience, preseverance, and experience. You ned to cut and strip the wires so they "just fit" into the space provided leading to the connectyion screws. no room for stuffing , and no extra wiggle room for and bends or kinks .. You mightb try mounting the wires and then pushing the extra wire back up intio the ceiling junction box, thats what I do.

Lost screws to attach fan blades on ceiling fan

This is not a 'promo' for Home Depot but you will find the screws there that you need.
You will need 15 screws, with an 'unfinished' appearance, for the attachment of the five blades to the arms, and 10 screws that have a smooth rounded finish to attach the arms to the motor housing. If they do not have it in stock they can order ot for you.
If you have an electrical fan store in your area you should be able to find the items there as well.
If you have an old discarded ceiling fan, take the screws out of it and try them on your current fan, they should work.
Good luck. :)
