You have bad gas coils.when the coils are starting to fail they work until they heat up and then stop working until they cool down and then they will work again, the dryer will work correctly for the first 15 to 30 minutes, then the coils will heat up and stop working not allowing the gas to come in, the gas coils are on top of the gas valve, remove the two phillips screws, remove the cover and change out the coils, easy repair.let me know how you make out.also next time you need help send the model number so whoever is helping you they can look up your machine.

Heats when unit is not on

Same thing just happened to my DEGX1. I took it apart and one of the heating elements had broken and fell to the bottom of the metal case. I think it was creating a short to ground and making it heat. I removed the broken element wires and attached them back best I could and did a test run with no problems. It is not heating when off now either. searspartsdirect.com had the elements for $67 so I ordered a set and will replace both of them (part #395583). My dryer is only 4 years old and 3 weeks ago the driver belt broke. Irritating they can't make them last any longer these days.

My Roper dryer will not start. It worked yesterday morning.

look for the little white fuse on the back on the blower housing. to check it just for a second.....you can connect the two little blue wires that are on the little white fuse just to see if that's it..but just for a second to test. DO NOT permanently bypass the fuse. also unclogg your venting :)

No heat

mcwilliams if you pull the over off the front of the dryer at the bottom you can see the gas burner assy. Put the dryer on time dry and start the dryer, you should see a glow from the ignitor, then hear a click, then the heat come on. In the auto dry mode, the timer advances along with the dryness level. No heat, No timer advancing. If you don't see a glow, there should be a thermosat on the heater can, see if it is tripped. If so if it is resetable, reset then try again. You may have a bad ignitor.

Dryer won't Start

the problem might be the start switch itself. if the switch is going bad it could have either a carbon buildup on the contacs preventing it from starting (unlikely) or the contacs are wearing out and it is more hit or miss if it will start. as time goes on the problem will get wose
