If your symptoms are:

1. Washer fills
2. Washer agitates.
3. When washer gets to spin cycle, it stops.

This is a common symptom of a defective lid switch. If you try opening and closing the lid and do not hear a distinctive "clicking" sound, your lid switch may need to be replaced. Some lid switches are located on the right-hand side of the lid opening with a small slot. It is activated by a plastic piece called a “lid strike” on the lid itself. Make sure the lid strike is not broken off. This will keep the switch from not working. On some model washers the lid switch is located on the left-hand side, in the rear, mounted under the casing near the lid hinge. It is activated by a rod on the lid hinge. Sometimes the rod can be adjusted if it is not making good contact with the switch. In either case, if the switch is not activated, it will allow the washer to fill and maybe agitate, but will not start the rinse or drain cycles. If you diagnose it and wish to attempt the repair yourself, the switch costs about $35 and can usually be found at either repairclinic.com, or searspartsdirect.com. Just type in your COMPLETE model number (located around the lid opening) in the Search menu.

I hope you find this helpful. If you have any questions please let me know by posting comments.

The last sentence I added was asking you to let me know if
you needed further assistance. It would have been considerate of you to
leave some feedback rather that rating this as "Inappropriate" with absolutely
no comments. Were you able to fix this problem? Does your washer
still have a problem? Do you need to troubleshoot the symptoms
further? I am familiar with the washer
functions and symptoms of some of the more common problems because I have
worked on it numerous times. The solution I provided was the best
assessment I could give you based on the one line sentence you provided as a
    question. The technicians on this
website provide their assistance at no charge.
There’s quite a number of years experience represented here, and many of us
take our valuable time to carefully read through each consumer concern to try give
you the know-how on how to fix things yourself.
Most importantly, this saves you money!
Appliance repair services are not cheap. Many of us are current or former appliance
    repair technicians. The least the
consumer could do is use these forums correctly by “discussing” your problems so
we can diagnose them more accurately.

Whirlpool washing machine style master #907675 just stop working in the middle of the wash cycle and won't start again.

Susan, First make sure there is still power to the outlet washer is pluged into, may have tripped the breaker/fuse. Could be something as simple as a loose wire/plug, lid switch to something worse like control board. Have a good Tech. diagnose and estimate repair. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

My Whirlpool washing machine AWM6100 is weird. it washes no problems but when it comes time to drain there is an awful noise any idea? it does drain and spin its just the noise

you may have something stuck in the drain pump that is rubbing or grinding on the impellar wheel
check for any obstruction in the drain pump and the hoses that led in and out of the drain pump.if you do not find anything then you may need to replace the drain pump. as long as this noise only happens in the drain cycle.

Yeah. This is a pump problem. Our machine first did this about 3 months ago. I took the filter plug out and removed about 10 coins from around the pump impeller area! I removed the pump and dismantled it. Unfortunately water was getting in past the seal on the pump spindle. I cleaned it all out and reassembled it. Worked fine till a couple of weeks ago. It has worn out the spindle "bearings" and because of the loose play it gets stuck, intermittently. If you are by the machine when the drain cycle starts , you can give the filter housing a few bangs(take off the circular cover) . The pump will start up .It makes a grumbly sound, as it is knackered. But once started will generally keep going. The answer however is a new pump. And probably a pact with everyone in your household to be more careful not to leave stuff in the clothes you put in the machine. Our washer has got through 2 mobile phones. a packet of bradding nails, a lot of cash, both coins and notes.Various other stuff that i wont mention! The pump gets very hot when it is trying to turn but cant because of debris on the impeller. This will lead to the pump failing after a time.

Whirlpool AWO3761 stuck mid-cycle

The cycle doesn't advanceWhen the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:

  • It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.

  • It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. See There's no cold water.
