Question about Acer Aspire 5100 Notebook
Trying to fix an acer aspire 5100 which is out of warranty. my cousin turned the screen off. now when the machine reboots the screen remains black. So I am unable to see the screen to change it back. The beep bios codes indicate it cannot initialize the video screen to display any additional information.(1 long, 2 short). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Boot up while pressing F2 until you hear a beep. Press F9 until you hear a beep. Press <Enter> until you hear a beep. Press <ESC> 2 times. Press <Enter> 2 times. This should reset the bios. Good Luck.

I am having the same issue with my Aspire 5100. I can't figure it out either.

The bios beep codes indicate the video card is not working, so you won't see anything on the screen.
Your video card is either dead, or is not contacting the board correctly.
If you are keen to open it up I will offer instructions to assist you. But in reality, your safest bet is to take it to a laptop shop and get them to do it. There are a lot of tiny screws in these things.
