How do I get my scanner to work?

Test scanner powers up - ie light comes on when first powered. If nothing - check your power supply and replace or repair if necessary.

Test data cables by changing cable or changing data port. If the scanner is USB connection you should see/hear a connection warning. If nothing happens - either your ports aren't active or your scanner i/o port is faulty

Check you have only one installation of the scanner in your scanners and cameras folder. If more than one copy - delete the spares.

Power off the AIO and remove the power supply(Power Cord) from the back of the unit.
Open the scanner cover. Check the scanner glass for cracks and the scanner casing for cracks. Close the scanner lid.
Open the top cover of the AIO.
Using the carrier belt, move the cartridge carrier to the middle of the unit.
Remove both cartridges, close the top cover, reinsert the power supply, and power the AIO on.
IF THE ERROR MESSAGE DID NOT COME BACK....
Power off the AIO and remove the power supply from the back of the unit.
Open the top cover of the AIO.
Using the carrier belt, move the cartridge carrier to the middle of the unit.
INSERT THE COLOR CARTRIDGE ONLY,
Close the top cover, reinsert the power supply, and power on the AIO.
IF THE ERROR MESSAGE RETURNS.. GET A DIFFERENT COLOR CARTRIDGE AND REPEAT THIS PROCESS....
IF THE ERROR MESSAGE IS GONE,
Power down as before, do all the same to get the carrier to the middle of the unit and RE-INSTALL THE BLACK CARTRIDGE.
Power back up as in previous steps...
If after trying all of the above and the error message does not go away, you unit would need serviced (if it's under warranty, it's worth it; if not, you might want to replace it.)

Have error messagage stating paper jammed, clear the paper and press OK. Have done this but can't get rid of error message and nothing will work either printer or scanner. Won't reset, have unplugged, all...

You may have overlooked some tiny minor problem lurking inside your printer. As for my experience with many canon printers, Your problem is common to the latest Canon printers in the market.

My solutions to that would be:

1) Take the printer to your supplier for service if the unit is still under warranty.
2) If over warranty period. You may proceed to opening up printer inside out. Before proceeding, be sure to unplug all the power cable from power source to prevent electric shock or you may damage your printer. Search online for service manual on how to open your printer.
3) look every inch inside your printer especially on rollers and on the cartridge area. You might be surprised to see that "tiny" problem inside your printer.

Hope this helps. Thanks for using

HP LaserJet 4 will not power up. For several months, it has been taking longer and longer to power up. Flip the switch and nothing happens for minutes, then it cycles on. Now, nothing. No lights, no hum,...

Hello,

The AC Power supply in your printer is out. The laserjet 4 and 4+ printers would both have long power up times when the power supply would start to die. You can get a replacement power supply very cheap now since the printers are older. We have them in stock as pulls from parts printers that should work just fine for you. We sell them for $30 plus shipping. We also have service manuals available if you need one. Let me know if you need more help.

Hp 2820 scanner error 5

I'm not sure if this will help or if this is the same as i had but I had been given A laserjet 2820 which keep't coing up scanner error 5 the chap that had it before me contacted hp service & was told to replace scanner unit which he did & it was ok for a while like 6 months & started then started again.
The problem he had was powered up ok till it came to scanner bulb warming up the scanner unit moves back & forth then try's to escape through the right hand side of case.
This is because it cant see the home position white strip under the scanner glass all you have to do is remove top section of the scanner unit complete with scanner glass & clean the under part of the scanner glass the white strip is located under the wide gray panel as you look down on the scanner glass with the lid up. hope this is of some use. my unit has been working for some time now
