Quite possibly getting past it's used by date.
The other thing to check for is the deaded dust. If the fan is covered in dust, it will not cut cleanly through the air and make noise.

Do not use any cleaning soloutions to get rid if the dust, instead, use an old toothbrush. This will be a little tricky if it's one of the fans underneath, but if you cannot remove the fan to clean it, then have someone hold the projector up, so the hole faces down..and the dust will fall that way as well instead of back into the projector.

Check the dust filters and clean/replace as needed.

If the fan is noisy due to running fast, then it can be for a few reasons.

Dust buildup on the filters means the fan has to work harder to get air into the projector.

If one of the thermal sensors are reporting over temps, then the fan speed will be increased to improve airflow.

If you have this mounted on the ceiling, then rember the air is hotter up there. You may need to consider putting a vent into the ceiling above the projector.

If you take this route, then you can also connect a venting system to the back of the projector to send the hot air straight out through the vent.

Check Panasonic's website service department for the cost and availability on the replacement fan.

Noisy

Something is catching on the fan blades. Possibly a screw or piece of plastic has come loose and is connecting with the fan blades when you switch it on. When the projector has been cool for a few hours remove the lamp and gently shake the unit to dislodge whatever is catching on the fan.

Kodak av 1050 slide projector with noisy fan motor

You can try a very small amount of a synthetic machine oil ( NOT WD-40!!!), but chances are if these machines have a bunch of hours on them the fan bearings (or the fan) will need to be replaced. The good news: you can contact www.micro-tools.com for Ektapro (or most any Kodak Slide Projector part). They have an amazing inventory of parts for Kodak machines and great technical support! Good Luck !!

When we turn on our PT-AE3000U it will power up until the blue screen with "PANASONIC" written across it appears and then it will just shut off. WHy is this?? We have changed to lamp in it...

if it abruptly turns off the thermal sensor could be worn out and triggering to shutdown, other than this it may be software related.

be sure that the projector is receiving a signal in the correct input form a DVD player or something to ensure that its not just on the standby screen.

How to install a fan in a KODAK carousel projector.... fan is noisey

Chances are that it isn't the fan in your Carousel Slide Projector that's noisy, it's a stretched-out fan belt. While there are still parts available (www.micro-tools.com), to complete this repair is pretty much a total tear-down of the projector. Unless you have been in a projector before (and have a service manual), you may cause more harm. I would recommend finding a factory-trained repair dealer to do this for you.

The lamp blew out and the broken glass is in one of the fans. You MUST get the glass out of the fans, intakes and bulb compartment before replacing the $275 - $500 bulb...

there isn't a colorwheel in the sp5000. it's an lcd, not a dlp. one of the fans is bad and needs to be replaced. the bearings might be going. you can get parts from an infocus service center or send it to them for repair. try av solutions in ny. they're really good. www.avsolutionsny.com
