Hi. My Zoom G1X has suddenly started giving out a noise whenever it is switched on. Its just like the disturbance/noise that one gets when a radio does not catch signal. I tried changing/editing the patches, replacing the cord that i'm using, alternate plug points, etc, but to no avail. Is there something wrong with the IC? If yes how can I fix it? If no, what is possibly wrong? Please help.
The first thing to check is the power source. A weak battery or adapter will cause this.
Beyond checking these the only other problems will be internal and require electronic servicing.,

Is the unit old?? Is it stored in an environment that has temperature fluctuations?? It could be the terminals on the input of the unit have dry jointed. This is when the solder lifts away from the circuit board. I have had the same problem on my ZOOM MRS1608 recording desk. Resolder the connections on the input. The base plate will problably remove easy enough to get to the point where the adapter is soldered onto the circuit board.
From an electrical engineering standpoint, an expression or volume pedal should be near the end of the chain so that the other effects don't try to process very weak signals when the volume is very low.
