I get a pop up with a RED CONTRAST screen every few minutes It sometimes goes away if I push the contrast button on my Dell monitor. but it will usually come right back. I have tried everything to stop...

You can try the monitor on another computer to verify it is the monitor and not the display card at fault.

I'm assuming this is an LCD monitor. If you are sure the monitor is the problem, then your monitor's display driver circuit is probably getting close to failing. When one of the three colors (red, green, blue) becomes intermittent, the screen takes on the hue of the working colors. In your case it sounds like the blue is starting to fail.

A repair technician may be able to replace the circuit.

Hp w2007 why does the computer go pink everything that is green is now black

All the colours on the screen are created by "mixing" the 3 "primary" colours (red, blue, green).

Once the production of "green" ceases, anything that should be "100% green" becomes "100% black",
and every colour that indicates some percentage of "green" becomes a mixture of just RED and BLUE, i.e., various shades of PINK.

First, try the monitor on another computer (desktop or laptop). If the problem persists, it's time to replace the monitor. If the problem vanishes, it's the video-card in your computer that is not generating GREEN, or it is the "data" cable between your monitor and your computer that is not transmitting the GREEN request. So, you can try replacing the data-cable, or try replacing the video-card.

HP laptop monitor for dv7-1170us does not work

It sounds like your flat vga cable has pulled loose inside the panel. Just take the lid apart on your screen assembly and press that flat ribbon cable back in and tape it in place.

MY optiplex gx280 intermittant boots correctly sometimes only to a black screen and flashing cursor.

It sounds like a problem with the boot loader inside of windows. If you are getting no errors then this is most likly the case.

The following link shows you how to get to the recovery console.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314058

from there you need to run 2 commands. the first is: fixboot
the second is: fixmbr

Just type those in when you get to the command line. if that fails, you need to reinstall windows. either way, back up data...ie songs, pictures, documents...etc.

No sound it says no device installed

This may sound silly, but I do not mean it to be silly as an answer.

I have found, over the years, especially with Compaq and HP computers, that when you plug the speaker plugs into the back of the computer, green into green, and pink into pink, there is no sound. But if you reverse them, such that you now have green into pink, and pink into green, you will have sound.

It does not happen every ime, but more times than I thought possible.

Otherwise, take the plugs from the rear of the computer and, if you have outlet jacks on the front of the computer, plug them in there, and see if you can get sound that way.

The saying goes, "It might not help, but it couldn't hurt!"

Good luck!

I have a compaq desktop, winxp sp3. white has turned pink

The monitor needs some minor repair and alignment that's all

If you are any good with electronics and have a bit of decent test gear lying around you could probably do this job yourself.

But if not then a local TV or computer repair shop will be able to handle it and it should not cost too much.

Its a common problem on older CRT type screens

No sound from headset plugged into monitor

From the manual I found, this model does NOT support ANY audio connections.
http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/1/170b1a/170b1a_dfu_aen.pdf
170B Product Features
- 17" color LCD monitor with excellent display performance.
- Dual input-accepts both DVI Digital and VGA Analog input.
- Advanced AUTO adjustment automatically optimizes picture quality.
- Wide viewing angle technology.
- 7.1 (181mm) small footpring with full detachable cables.
- USB Bay for upgrade to USB Hub.
- Optional protective cover to prevent LCD panel damage.
- Standard VESA mounting holes and optional tilt/swivel Wall Mount Kit.

But if yours does have these ports, I would suggest they are not for a headset, but for connection to the _PC_. I would suggest your model monitor has built in speakers, and the green port is the INPUT from the PC Speaker output. The pink goes back to the PC from the MIC which is built into the screen.

TOSHIBA LAP TOP

If you move your laptop screen to were it works sometimes and doest work other, it sounds like it could have a loose connection in the ribbon cable. Most laptop lcd screens are connected to the main board through a brown looking ribbon cable. if this cable has become loosened, then yes it can be a DIY type job.

if you attempt to take the laptop apart, i sugguest you keep a record of what type screws go where.

Good luck!
