Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

Hello, I have a 1995 Mits. 63in. Model #VS 6083. My four year old was messing with the buttons on the Tv and somehow caused the picture to have a black box coverind all but the outer rim around the screen. We tried to resolve the problem and now the best we can get is a tiny picture of the show in the upper right hand corner of the screen. We don't know what to do to get our tv back to being "normal" again. We can hear sound, but no picture. Please if you can be of any help, we would greatly appreiciate it. Thanks. -Jessica

    Thanks for your quick reply, but we already tried unplugging it for a day and a half and still have the same problem. Also the tv inputs are only showing antennae A and antennae B, When there should be three other input options. We've always been able to go to 5 different inputs but now there's only 2. If you go to add/delete channel, it shows the picture in a small box in the upper rt corner, but it won't go back to the full screen. We've tried going through the menu options and nothing works to get it back to normal. Is there any other way to reset it besides unplugging it? Or is there a certain screen or option we should look for to take it out of that setting? Please leave any tips or ideas, at this point we'll try anything. Thanks again.

Initially, what would be a sound move is to reset your unit. This could be done by unplugging it from the mains for a couple of hours (preferably overnight). The idea is to revert all settings back to factory default.

Pls post back for any developments or even the lack of it since alternately, it may be that your On-Screen-Display (OSD) or picture in picture (PIP) is acting up.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back as requested, how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

    Hi again,

    This forum has much to info re Mitsubishi PTVs. Nonetheless, an excerpt from there....
    1.Set the Layer Switch at the top of the Mitsubishi Remote to TV.

    2.Press and hold the POWER button, and while holding the power button enter 090.

    3.Now the remote should function like this:

    Power = Power On Discreet
    Stop = Power Off Discreet
    Pause = AV Reset

    Pressing INPUT followed by:
    PIP = DTV
    1 = Input 1
    2 = Input 2
    3 = Input 3
    4 = Input 4
    5 = DVD / Component 1
    6 = Component 2
    SQV = Input STB
    QV = Input VGA
    PIP CH Up = Antenna A
    PIP CH Down = Antenna B

    4.When done, press and hold the POWER button and enter code 000 to return to the standard remote functions

Have sound but no picture. We have comcast and can only see a small screen in upper right corner after pushing the menu button. In this picture, I do see my comcast channels and I am able to change them...

Look inside front panel under RHS picture tube for leaked fluid. If you see a puddle on signal board, take tv to street - it is unrepairable then. The coolant is poisionous.
If that looks ok, then make sure you're using original Mits. remote.
Hope this helps.

Mits. 1998 vs50603 48in.

Good Day, WADE N;

Some Models will shut down when no signal is detected.
Try unplugging the TV from wall/power source for 3 to 5 minutes.... plug back. Same thing? Go into OPTION MENU, press 'MENU' button on the remote > enter 1270. Choose reset system. If not there go to the SERVICE MENU, press "MENU > 1257 (same thing).
CAUTION: before you change any settings, document them (write down).

Good Luck, big IRISH.
