Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console
Im from maryland, but right now im currently in turkey,im having issues with getting my 360,bought in the states(ntsc) to work in turkey......the problem is the cord, it doesent fit in to the electrical sockets, turkey uses the european type 2 pin re receptacles, anyways i bought a voltage converter from radio shack in maryland....it converts 220\240 voltage(turkey uses 220) to 110\120 vac USA........so i plugged my 360 in to the converter then into the wall socket, popped in call of duty 4 and everything seem to go well...........15 minutes in to the game i start to smell some thing funny,,i continued to play for another 15 min by then their was an overwhelming smell of burning wires it was so overwhelming that i felt like i couldn't breath i go behind the tv to unplug the converter but the minute i touched it, it felt very hot and the smell was horrible.10 seconds later the system and the converter lost power,i waited for the converter to cool down then tryed to reboot the 360 and thats when i figured the the fuse on the converter blu out.........my question is....do i need a higher voltage converter.....its pretty depressing, i havent been able to enjoy my 360 in 4 months.since i came to turkey i have yet to see a single 360 in any store or electronic store, i have seen a million ps3s and wii s for some reason the ps3 and the wii are extremely popular but no 360,anywa ys a couple days ago i got a higher voltage transformer sent from US.....but now my 360 power brick doesent seem to work and now i have a brand new game stuck in their and cant get it to open the trey since theirs no power running to it
The first possibility is that it was simply a faulty transformer, however the more lilkey problem is the transformer was not of a sufficient power to run the Xbox 360, you need to make sure that you buy a transformer that can supply at least 300w of power as this is what the xbox 360 requires, some cheaper models may have difficulty with this.
