I hadn't used my old CC645 VHS-C in years, but when I took it out of mothballs it seemed to work fine, although the battery was low. I put the battery in the charger and pressed refresh. When the light came on that it was done, I lent the camera to a friend, but I didn't test it first. He couldn't get the camera to operate and when he gave it back neither could I. I figured there was a problem with the battery, so I put it back in the charger and pressed refresh again. Now both the refresh light and the charging light are flashing at the same time. Is that normal? Do I need a new battery? I'm confused.

Thanks for your prompt response. It appears to be the battery. I managed to fix the charger (the refresh button was stuck), but it looks like the battery won't hold a charge. I'm going to try refresh/charge one more time (since I'm not sure it was truely "refreshed" before it charged) and if that doesn't work, I'm off to eBay.
Cheers!

You will probably need a new battery as NiCd dont' last forever. However, before buying one, try out the camera on the mains adaptor. This will tell you if there is a problem with the camera.
Good luck
