I have a Canon Pixma colour printer / scanner and i getting an error on the lcd displaying "CHECK INK U051 BLK COL".
I need to replace my cartridges but all i want to do at the moment is scan in a picture and it's not letting me - why?

I have a message "Check Ink U041 8bk" om my printer and it will not print/fax or scan. I've tried holding the stop/reset button for 5 sec but this didn't help. The ink cartridge is nearly full and the red light is flashing. Is there a way to reset this error to get the printer working again?
