SHU66C02 Front Panel Switch cover fell off

My wife pushed the "regular wash" button towards the bottom (near the button cover hinge point) and the button cover fell off. I tried to set the button cover back in but I cant get the plastic hinge snapped back in place. Is there a trick to this or do I need to remove the plastic front panel cover. If so, how do I go about doing that?
