The wireless mouse (Compaq) is not synced with my computer. Windows XP says it is ready to go and it shows up on the devices but it does not work. I have taken the serial mouse down but the new mouse will not work. I have a connect button and a RX light on the cradle but do not know the right combination to get it to work? I have held down the connect button for a minute and the RX light comes on but does not stay on very long?

It seems that the device is not correctly installed. Please do the following:
1. Disconnect it from the PC or laptop.
2. Fron control panel un install it.
3. Reboot.
4. Re install the device from the CD that came with it.
5. Reboot.
6. Connect the device and allow Windows to detect and load the drivers. It will tell you 'HW installed and ready to use'.
All the best.

The inbuilt microphone in my compaq laptop c700 is not working. My operating system is windows Xp.

go to your device manager and try reinstalling the driver for it---also check your audio drivers, I've had situations where I had an optical mouse that was also a skype phone, it also had a mic and speaker in it, so when I was using that mouse, my internal speakers wouldn't work because ,y computer confused my mouse phone with speakers. What I mean is there may be another device interfering with your mic.

How do you install a compaq wireless mouse to my Windows XP OS? The hardware shows up on my devices but it does not function even though Windows XP says it is ready to go? Do I need further software or...

if you computer went through the process of finding it and installing the drivers then you might just need to synch the mouse up with the usb adapter that it cam with. There is usually a small round button on both of them. Pushing them both should synch them together and you should be go to go.

Best of luck and have a Happy and safe 4th of July weekend!

I want to install a Microsoft wireless optical mouse but not sure how to do it.

Hi,
With the wireless mouse you also have a wireless adapter that is connected via usb to your computer. Insert the usb adapter in an available usb port on your computer. Wait for a few seconds until windows verfies and installs the new device. Then press the sync button located under the wireless adapter and at the same time press the sync button under your mouse.
The mouse will be ready to use.

Wireless Mouse won't respond

There would be sync button at the bottom of the mouse. Press and hold that button for 10 seconds while keeping the mouse inline with the receiver. Do let me know if that helps.

Sounds like you need to update your mouse's driver, you will find the intellimouse 6.3 driver for Windows XP at the link below "IntelliPoint 6.3 32-bit for Windows XP".

Mouse

If you replaced the batteries make sure they where "new" batteries, try pressing the sync button on the mouse first, then on the receiver.

If that fails unplug the receiver from the computer wait about 30 seconds and plug it back in, wait for windows to recognize the device again, then re-sync the two.

Wireless devices are handy, however they do add one more area of failure to your computer. I'd highly recommend going with a USB mouse unless you need the wireless range.
