I checked the power cord and the switch on the front of the computer and both are OK. But I can't get the computer to start. Not even the fans will run.

GuruUsually with no power it is a power supply needs replacing?
Check cable if pluged in to wall?
Is the switch in on postion at wall switch?
Is power strip turned on?
